Wifes Passport expires in less than 6 months, can she travel on it ?

Hi folks,
My wifes passport expires early February, but we were thinking of popping over to France next week for a few days on the motorbike. Does anyonne for sure if she will still be able to use the passport as it has less than 6 months to run ?

On a side note, any recommendations for good B & B's in Northern France ?

Your passport will be OK, French tourist offices have lists of B&B, get their phone number off the net, most speak some english or try Gites de France website. You may have to reset your computer to accept French language but then click for english, you can reserve using a UK bank card.
    Enjoy France.

We checked with passport office yesterday, some countries recommend a new passport if your old has less than 6 months to expire. They ask for this to cover all eventualities, like if you fall ill or something and have to stay in hospital for example, then you would be unable to renew your passport.
Saying that though I don't believe immigration will come and get you from your hospital bed ignore the doctors advice and pop you on the first available flight home.

I travelled on mine a month before it expired. I travel a lot and had never thought to look at the expiry date.A Ryanair rep at check in asked how long I was going away for as it expired in a months time .I was going for three weeks so on my flight home it was only valid for the week. So it should be fine. Just remember to renew it when you come back.

this question comes up regularly - FAO MOds - any chance of merging several of them and making them a sticky at the top of the travel section ?

Please see my posts in particular ... I have been in the travel industry for 28 years.

Might be worth checking with the ferry company/Eurotunnel to see what they say

    good luck
