bear in mind also that i am an ntl customer.

it's been this for a while, well for a few weeks at least, 18866 is 2p connection but 0.5p per min, 1899 is 3p connection but 0.0 per min, so assuming you call for more than 1 minute 1899 is cheaper
  • yoshii,
are you saying that you actually used an NTL line to dial "1899" as the prefix and didn't use the 0808 access number?
...and then the window licker said to me...

If you use a non BT-line:
    18866 charges 2p connection plus 0.5p/min
1899 charges 3p/call only (no per minute charge)

That is why, in Hull where there are no BT lines, I use 1899 rather than 18866 since most calls are likely to last longer than a minute (break-even point).

I have an NTL phone line.

Am I correct in my understanding that I can prefix any phone number with -
0808 18699 (or 1899) plus the telephone number and I will get the call for the prices quoted.

If so, do I need to include the area code (eg Manchester 0161) after the 18699 and before the remainder of the phone number?

    Many thanks.

First of all you have to sign up for an account with 1899 as they will bill you for these calls not NTL.

Then you will dial the 0808 number followed by the full number, including the area code, of the person you wish to speak to.

If it is a local/national call with 1899 it will be 0p per minute with a 3p connection charge.

Should you have any problems signing up with https://www.call1899.co.uk they might tell you they have reached full capacity at the moment, then you sign up using a mobile number and after the acceptance email from them add in your landline number.

    Hope this helps.icon7.gif

Best not to rush to start a new thread but have a read of previous threads then you will find the information has more than likely already been posted :D

Invariably when 1899/18866 change their prices in any way you will find it posted on MSE before their respective websites ;)
