Please help me!!! mckenzie hall -nasty people!!

Hi , please can some help me and give advice as Mckensize Hall scare me so much, well let me start from the begining.....

Well over 4 yrs ago i called a home learning company 2 do a course, and basicly i canc the course in writing, and never did it and i never signed anything, the home learning place said i didnt canc in time and i would have 2 pay 4 the course even tho i wasnt doing it!!!!!!!Well, i refused 2 pay 4 over a yr, then it got passed to these nasty people at Mckensive Hall

They tracked me down after about 2 yrs as i have moved again, they demanded i pay this debt £400 4 course i have never done, i said no way, but over time they got worse and very nasty and scared me so much, they even said the debt had gone up 2 £800 as they just been told i had asked 2 do 2 courses (i never it was only 1 course)well 2 get rid of them i said i would pay installments but i never as i knew i was moving v soon, my question is if i can avoide them 4 6 yrs will they leave me alone and write the debt off?

I never signed anything with these courses and canc in writing-any advise is great-thanks every one

I think you need to ask them to prove that you took the debt on signed a credit agreement.

Someone will come along soon with the template letter link to do that.

Hi, thank you, i never did sign a credit agreement it was all done over the phone, does this count?also i want to get a copy of my credit report if i get one will they be able 2 track me down from this?thanks again

If you never signed a credit agreement then they cannot prove that you took the debt out so there fore they cannot chase it - if that makes sense.

I think you are protected by data protection if you request your history they are not allowed to tell everyone you have done it!

Have a look on the site for other Mackenzie Hall threads.
Not had much time, but someone posted a template letter a while back for a similar situation.
Basically - they need to prove the debt is yours. Not the other way round.

Send a £1 cheque and send the letter recorded delivery!!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Re: Mackenzie Hall Reference:

I do not acknowledge ANY debt to your company or your clients.

With reference to the above agreement, I would be grateful if you would send us a copy of this Signed credit agreement. I understand that under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Sections 77−79), I am entitled to receive a copy of my Signed credit agreement on request. I enclose a payment of £1.00, which represents the fee payable under the Consumer Credit Act.

I understand a copy of are credit agreement should be supplied within 12 working days.

I understand that under the Consumer Credit Act creditors are unable to enforce an agreement if they fail to comply with a request for a copy of the agreement under these sections of the Act.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Also make sure that if they call you, that you will only deal with them in writing. There are other templates on the board if they don't do this and this is harassment. Do not admit the debt. It is up to them to prove that this is a legally recognised debt.

hi all, im new to these forums, and , this morning, i received a letter from McKenzie Hall.

they stated that they are trying to trace me regarding an urgent matter.

i telephoned them and they said that there is an outstanding debt on my files , for a ground rent owed on my property of £1200, dating to 1981.

this made me laugh, as, ive only lived in the property since 2002, and i wasnt even born till 1984.

i explained his, and they were adamant that this debt has been on my credit history since i got a CCJ for it in 1981!!!!

so, frustratedly, i went on to experian to download a credit report, and , i do not have a single debt to my name.

i visited the citizens advice bureau at 10am, they told me that the letter was of a 'bogus' nature, and that the reference number is identical to so many other letters they have had complaints about.

also, they went on to mention, they have dealt with, and got over 2000 complaints on file regarding mckenzie hall.

and, with every complaint, none of the names of who needs to be contacted are the same.

PLUS according to land registry, there never has been, and never will be a ground rent on my property, in the 137 years it has been standing!

IF YOU RECEIVE A LETTER FROM THESE MONKEYS, DITCH IT!, and remember, makesure you were born at the time of their suggested debt against your name.

What bugs me though is that they say i had a ccj against me in 1981- how? if i wasnt born till 3 years later!!!

They don't care about people just chasing money. Thing is its over 6 years old too! There are so many ways in which they are wrong. I wish there was a way companies with a reputation like theres could be closed down.

HI HAD A PHONE CALL FROM THESE MUPPETS ABOUT A SO CALLED DEBT IN 1992 I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS LEFT MESSAGE 2 RING THEM ASAP SHOULD I MAKE CONTACT OR JUST IGNORE THEM CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THIS CHEERS RUSSELL
