Vanquis Credit Card - website

I've been wanting to apply for the Vanquis card for a month+ now but their website never seems to work for me. Either it doesn't load or loads up the first page then when I click on a link the website crashes. Other times I've started filling my details on the application form but won't submit when I try to.

Anyone successfully applied for a Vanquis card via the website? Is there any other way to apply?

Thanks :)

  • You can call them and ask for an application form to be sent. I am not sure whether you can apply on the telephone but you could try. The main Vanquis number on a scam 0870 number is 0870 8507755, or alternatively 01634 793500, where if you call during office hours the phone is answered by a 'real' person and no press button 1 etc.

Do however ensure that you pay the balance off each month as their interest rate is truly horrendous!

I applied last night on the web and got a telephone call today saying i'd been accepted.

From memory i also think they take applications over the phone.

I only plan to use it for a few little everyday buys instead of using my debit card then pay it off each month to help build my rating back up so the APR is not really an issue. :j

Got the Aqua card the other month too, to do the same thing with.

Cookies and Temp files are deleted when ever I reboot my PC as I have CCleaner set to do this. :)

    Thanks

See, I dont know why people Vanquis bash all the time. I have an Abacus card with them. I have a 29.9 APR, (same as my Cap One USED to be until they upped it) and a limit of £1000, whereas my Cap One card has a £200 limit, and has done for 2 years!! Vanquis service has always been excellent, all UK call centres, which is more than I can say for Cap One! Yes its a high APR, but its aimed at those with sub prime credit, higher risk = higher APR. simple. if you dont want to pay, either pay off your balance in full each month (which they recommend you do anyway) or...............pay cash and dont have one!

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

I opened a Vanquis account a couple of years ago to rebuild my credit rating which worked as I am now able to get credit from mainstream lenders so in that sense the Vanquis card is worth having.

On the other hand they increased my limit several times, eventually giving me £3000 which, when maxed out, meant an extortionate £90 a month interest so please be careful when using it; pay off as much as you can each month and cancel any increases they give you.

I've used credit from mainstream lenders to pay off the Vanquis card to save the interest so maybe try in 6 months to a year of careful spending to get credit elsewhere.

    This i totally agree with.

I was bankrupt 6 years ago and have been going through the credit building since i was discharged.

In that time i had a CAP1 secured card with a £200 limit that they just refused to increase for me.

A couple of months ago i got accepted for an Aqua card with 2.5 times the limit that CAP1 gave me. I have since cancelled the CAP1 card and now opened an account with Vanquis. This card is only ever going to be used to pay my out of pocket expenses for work and will be paid off in full each month.

Anyone who gets one of these cards and uses it wisely and correctly will have no problems bettering there credit history.
