Virgin trains to Aberdeen?
I've got a voucher for a Virgin Train ticket, and I want to use it to go from Sheffield to Aberdeen.
On the Virgin site there are 2 lines that go there (the Penzance lines), though on the timetables it looks like you have to change, usually at Edinburgh or Dundee.
But when I check the actual train times, I can't find any Virgin trains into Aberdeen, only Scotrail ones. Do Virgin have any services that go to Aberdeen?
(If not, why have they got them on their route map?)

When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Effectively there's one Virgin train a day through to Aberdeen and it uses the west coast mainline. One or two more go as far as Dundee.0

Thanks u20,
I'm looking for something on Sunday 29th or Monday 30th, and I can't find anything on those days.
Is there a search site where you can specify Virgin only trains?
dzug: do you know roughly what time of day that train is?When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Monday 30th: 1631 leaving Edinburgh arriving Aberdeen 1907
Sunday 29th: according to my Virgin trains timetable for this year there should be dep 1617 arr 1906 but cant find it on nationalrail website0 -

Got this off www.virgintrains.co.uk for Mon 30th..
Sheffield 12.21 - arrive Edinburgh Waverley 16:15
Train VIRGIN TRAINS
Change train at Edinburgh Waverley - 00:16 connection time
Edinburgh Waverley 16:31 - arrive Aberdeen 19:07
Train VIRGIN TRAINS
I don't think there are any Virgin ones that would go direct from Sheffield to Aberdeen with no changes - I've spent a lot of time in train stations on the East Coast line and I've certainly never seen one! I think the Edinburgh to Aberdeen one above is the West Coast one which comes through Glasgow before crossing over to Edinburgh then northwards. Help, I sound like a trainspotter!

Virgin trains terminate at Edinburgh on Sun 29th with bus connections.0

dzug, that would explain it!
Thanks redsquirrel80, a change is fine, as long it is Virgin trains (or the ticket won't be valid).
Last question, I promise! Does anyone know what time the return train would be from Aberdeen? Any time on any weekday, the following week.
EDIT: I found one on the West Coast line at 8.20am, that's the only one I can see though. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -

Correct, that's the only one - unless you want to leave Aberdeen mid-evening and overnight in Edinburgh. The one you get on the outward journey trundles back to Edinburgh.0
