Buyers Line Direct - a fraud?

Options
I've been trying to sell my car for some time and I put it back on Autotrader. Almost immediately my phone has been bombarded with companies offering to bring buyers to me and sell my car

In the end I decided what the heck and spent £99 or so on a company called Buyers Line Direct.

That was over a week ago.

Since then I have received no calls from buyers, no receipt in the post despite my money being taken and no updates on my advert on their website despite sending them an email with all the details I wanted on there.

I'm starting to think I’ve been scammed after doing a little searching about the internet.

Two questions:-
1) I paid on credit card; can I cancel the transaction and get my money back?
2) Are there any GENUINE companies out there who will truly find buyers from my car? There seems to be so many with none to be particularly recommended

All information appreciated.

these companies are a waste of time and money
Your far better going with AutoTrader as youll pay a fraction of the price and the success rate is far higher and proven by me and others!
Ive sold loads of cars through AT and they are fantastic

You say that, but i've advertised on Autotrader twice now and only had one call

    It gets frustrating!

One call is one more call than no calls, which is what you will get with these canvassers who call you, despite their claims to have buyers interested in your car. If these claims were true, these buyers would be calling you, not these canvassers.

If you were buying a car, would you look directly at Autotrader, Exchange and Mart and the local press, or would you go to a company like Buyerline?

    Hi

    In answer to your questions....

    1. The £99 they ripped you off for is (deliberatley) just under the £100 mark...which is where the cc co becomes 'jointly liable' for the product, so a refund would have been easier. IIRC if its within 30 days of purchase you can ring the cc and do a 'chargeback' to the merchant (scammer). Confirm this with CAB poss.

    2. Err, no there are no genuine car matchers out there so don't waste your time or money on them.

Why confirm with the CAB? Its easier to just phone your credit card company and it varys from company to company.
  • this so called company have taken me for £129.99 and the promise of selling my bike in seven days how stupid am i so people please beware of these people they are very good at getting your money they will give a contact no of 01992 703080 and all this does is go to an awnser machine if any body has an address for these people can you pass it on please i have also alerted trading standards if there is enough complaints they will do something about them so lets stop them before loads of others get caught
  • Ah bad luck fella. I've disputed the service/payment with my credit card and they sent me forms which I've filled in.

As of yet i've recieved no reciept, no calls and my advert on their website has still not been updated with the pictures and information I sent through to them 2-3 weeks ago.

They are in short, a disgrace, and I have hopes Barclays will be able to get my money back from them.

Please anyone else, if you consider using this company be cautious.
