I'm new to the forum side of this site and it looks reall helpful and informative so far
Here goes my first post
I am wandering how i go about pursueing for various charges after Requesting my bank statements from the people below..
LLOYDS TSB SCOTLAND - CURRENT ACCOUNT
BANK OF SCOTLAND - CURRENT ACCOUNT
CLYDESDALE BANK - CURRENT ACCOUNT
I have used step 2 in the link below and wrote to the banks requesting lists of charges etc including interest for each account, i did this on the 26 April 2007.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges
I sent the letters to my Account holding branches.
I have received a reply from all 3 banks,
The Clydesdale and Bank of Scotland replied to me with letters on the 18th May 2007 (Clydesdale) and 16th May (BOS) saying that they are receiving high number of requests bla bla bla and i will get a reply with statements or charges within 40 days of my 26th April letter and guess what ?
Nothing...
So i called Clydesdale and got a number to call 01132882726 and got an automated service saying i should hear by 6th July (Well over 40day stipulation) Bos was same got a number and it was automated
I f only i could speak to some one
WHAT WILL I DO NOW ? ? ?
Will Information Commissioner help at all ? ? ?
I received another letter from Lloyds Tsb dated the 11th May with my charges listed going back to September 2004 when i opened account.
So acting upon this one i followed step 3 in the link i attached above which was requesting for my Bank charges and interest to be repaid to me(£400), this was on 15th June 2007.
And today i received a letter from the Customer service recovery centre
Charlton Place Andover Hampshire SP10 1RE saying.
Sorry you are unhappy about your charges bla bla bla... like any business we do make a charge for some of our extra services. It goes on with lots of flowery spill about how they make customer aware of their charges and they are working with OFT.
They end the letter stating i do hope you can see our charging system is as fair as possible and why i cant agree to cancel your charges.
They have also said that if we cannot come to an agreement they will provide me with details of the Financial Ombudsman service.
What do i do now ?
I was going to send a letter threatening court action claiming interest(Step 4 in Martins link above)
Is this the correct thing to do ?
And what do i do if i dont here from them 14 days from letter ?
How do i start court action ?
Thats a standard bog off letter from Lloyds, many off the Lloyds TSB thread have received this. Do exaclty as you've said, if you haven't sent the LBA send that now, stick to your deadlines, if you have no joy after the 14 daysthen proceed into filing your claim. You can do this either via your local County Court or via MCOL, www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
Good luck

Sorry yes if you haven't received the information as requested and 40 days have past, report them to the information commisioner.
You can get the last 5 years statements online with Lloyds TSB, if you don't already have internet banking, it may well be worthwhile and quicker for you to register for it and get the Lloyds ones off there,

QUICK UPDATE.
I received a letter today with all my statements going back to 2002 from Clydesdale Bank.
So had a good look through them and typed up a letter using STEP 2 in Martins Link (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges) asking for charges back totallng £1181 with interest (used calculater and printed it off)
So they'll get sent tomorrow recorded
So heres hoping something comes apart from a generic letter saying accounts my responsibility etc etc
As for Lloyds the letter was just sent recorded today threatening court action against the £400 i claimed (Have been working away, and got back a few days ago), so heres hoping it brings something.
As for Bank of Scotland i aint heard anything and reported them to the IOC by sending off forms on the 30th June but heard no more fom IOC or Bos
What can i do now regarding Bos as i think they've had long enough to sent statements ? ?
I've tried calling a number (08456 020966) with no success
And i have a feeling Lloyds and Clydesdale are gonna send me a Generic letters, if i get that can i report them to Financial Ombudsman to save me going to court ?
P.s What does LBA mean ?0 -
