.....the cookbook 'Traditional British Cooking' by Hilaire Walden?
I think this is the book I had years ago, and in it was a recipe for a bacon and egg pie which was yummy. If I remember rightly, all it involved doing was cooking bacon and onion, lining a dish with pastry, chucking the bacon and onion in with 3 raw eggs unbroke, putting a lid on it and baking it. Only I can't remember it all.
If someone has the book, can they please post the recipe - have looked online to no avail.
Fingers crossed,
Luis x

Don't have the book, but if you really like it you can buy new or used from this page at AmazonHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I know this will be annoying if you don't want to part with the cash, but I see Amazon has copies from £9
I have her Sensational Preserves book and it's absolutely brilliant - I would have to replace that if ever I lost it.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Reluctant to part with cash, as I can remember all the other recipes from it that I need, other than the pie (lost the book when moving out when I got divorced - funny how little things like that can annoy you more than the actual divorce in the end lol).
Thanks both - fingers still crossed................."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

Wow squeaky, you do work hard! Thank you for the link - sadly the £3 book is by someone else, and the Hilaire Walden one starts at £10 (aggravating as I got the lost copy for about £3.50 from a cut pric book store years ago).
Hopefully, someone, somewhere will have the recipe................"It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

Did a quick search for you and although could not find the recipe by Hilaire Walden found these instead. They all sound so lovely that I may have to make one of them now!
First pie
Next pie (look for the recipe posted by jennifer264 sounds lovely)
and then there is this one which believe it or not on Nigella lawson's web site !Last pie
They all sound very similar, but I think I may go for the Nigella one. Thanks for the idea.0 -
