Fly from London to Bombay (Mumbai) for only £280 return

What's the deal?

Book before 20 July and you'll be able to get a return flight, during September and October, from London Heathrow to Mumbai (India) for £280 return, including all charges and taxes, via Sri Lankan Airlines.

The only negative is the flight entail a stop-over each way in Colombo (a hotel will be provided if this lasts for more than eight hours, but there are flights where the wait's only 80 mins). If this doesn't phase you, this offers a cheap way to travel into South East Asia.

How does this offer compare to other airlines?

Return flights via Air India during September and October (with one stop-over too) are £360 at their cheapest, so a saving of at least £80 is possible - direct flights are more.

How can I get a ticket?

Go to the Sri Lankan Airlines website and input that you'd like to travel from London to Mumbai, tick the 'return trip' box and select your preferred dates (the return date must be within 30 days of departure). Flight availability's quite good at the moment but it's worth remembering that the less rigid you are with dates, the more likely you are to find bargainous flights.

E-tickets will be then sent to your email address confirming your booking. Neither refunds or journey alterations can be made after this, plus the credit card holder must be in the travelling party (and must bring the credit card with them to check-in).

See the offer's full terms and conditions for further info.

Unfortunately i need to go from end of july to end of august, beg of september and then again from mid december til beg of jan, and cheapest i can find is 514.00. Why can i never find the cheapies for when i need them??

Can't get either link in the original post to work. But if there's a stopover in Colombo each way, is it possible to just buy a ticket to Colombo for the same (or lower) price? Not that bothered about going to Mumbay.
  • Hi rbulph,

The links are working, they just seem to be taking a while to load. :)

Unfortunately, the Ts & Cs mention stop-overs in Colombo (I interpret that to mean not continuing to Mumbai) aren't allowed.

Persnally I'd rather fly with Austian Air at £275 (from Heathrow) including taxes with a 2 hour stop in Vienna.

Southall Travel have been offering this deal for a long time. Valid June to 30 Nov.

Flying to Sri Lanka is a bad way (in the case of time) for doing things - look at where it is on the map. Must be at least a 2-3 hour flight south of Mumbai and then back of course.

I actually was going on holiday to India in October, so this deal is great.

One question: on the stopover in colombo do you have to stay at the airside hotel, or can you venture into the city?

BA, Virgin, Jet Airways, non-stop for £240ish + taxes at that time, makes them only about £60ish more overall, but saves up to 7 hours travelling in each direction.

TBH, Mumbai airport scared the living daylights out of me - it's well worth the extra money to arrive fresh and with your wits on you!
