"Callers were switched to the HomePhone service without consent when they believed they were requesting information, according to Ofcom.
After a six-month investigation, the telecoms regulator found the Post Office had breached sales and marketing rules. The firm failed to ensure its sales agents gave "factual and accurate" information about HomePhone, Ofcom said.
Its staff did not clearly explain to customers the commitment they were making when entering a contract. The Post Office also failed to ensure its sales agents took special care with vulnerable customers, the regulator found. "
