£10 flights (including all taxes and charges) with Ryanair

19 June 2007

What's the deal?

No frills (and boy does it mean no-frills) airline Ryanair has cut the cost of many flights to Europe, with lots at only £10 each way; most importantly this INCLUDES taxes and charges. The promotion covers flights within the next four months, though sadly excludes school breaks, but you must book before Thursday 21 June to get them.

Speedily find the specific cheap flights

In a nutshell, use the FlightChecker, a special free, non-commercial tool I had built to find budget airline special offers. It works by you entering the maximum price you’re willing to pay before taxes and charges, the airports and date range and it finds the flights with you.

For this promotion specifically, select flights UNDER £1; in fact when the results appear you want flights listed as costing £0.01. At that point visit Ryanair and check out the total price including charges.

The system is speedy, but it's not perfect as there's no hard or fast rule with this promotion; some 1p flights will come to £10, others more, but if you’re flexible with your dates and the airport you fly from, you’re likely to find a bargain within a few minutes and it's much, much quicker using the Flightchecker than not.

Which flights are available in this promotion?
  • Flights must be booked before Thurs 21 June and at least 14 days ahead
  • Flights must depart between 30 June and 27 Oct: excluding Friday & Sunday flights, and during July and August Saturdays too. All school breaks and major sporting event periods aren't included either.
  • Departs from: Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bristol, Doncaster (Sheffield), Durham (Tees Valley), East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow (Prestwick), Inverness, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool John Lennon, London (Gatwick, Luton & Stansted), Manchester, Newcastle and Newquay.
  • Destinations include: Algehero, Bremen, Cork, Dublin, East Midlands, Glasgow (Prestwick), Hamburg (Lubeck), Inverness, Knock, La Rochelle, Madrid, Nantes, Oslo, Pisa, Shannon, Turin and many more.
The promotion details are listed here.

Ryanair charges you to check baggage in!

It’s £10 per item each way if you do it at the airport and £5 if you pre-book. So if possible take hand luggage only. Also, you’re charged handling fees for paying with a debit card (70p - except when using Electron, which is free) as well as credit cards (£2). This is per person, per flight.

I was stung an extra £2 for priority boarding the last time I booked when going with only hand luggage. If I left the field blank I could not proceed.

That is not correct. You can remove the priority boarding charge.

A case of not reading the information properly.
