Tax Credits not being paid

I got Tax Credits last year and renewed my application for this year and they confirmed I would get it. They paid me direct for so long and then said that my employer would pay it from September. When I didn't get it, I queried this with my employers and they said they were still waiting for a start date from the Revenue. I have queried this again todaywith the Revenue and they still haven't sent them anything. Meanwhile I am still not getting my Tax Credits paid. is there anything else I can do?

  • Theoretically using the Helpline and speaking to a Supervisor should solve your complaint however many posters have found this as effective a banging your head against a brick wall. If you have tried this and put your complaint in writing then the next stage is to follow the formal complaint procedure and/or use your MP as MP's have a Tax Credit Hotline.

    Fax your MP. com

Writing the above reminds me that CAB offices also have a specific Tax Credit Hotline direct to the Inland Revenue, so maybe your CAB could get the matter sorted. Find your CAB I wonder why other Welfare Rights Groups aren't given a similar priority line. It does smack of unfairness and lead the cynical observer to question the CAB's total Independence from government.

I don't think they are letting employers pay the WTC anymore because there were too many problems with that. It caused overpayments. This is because although a claimant might have told the TCO immediately of a change of circumstance by the time the letter had got through to the employer to cease payment and their payroll implemented the new instructions several more payments may have gone out which the claimant wasn't entitled to and which they would have been expected to notice and not spend.

I would check with the TCO exactly how much WTC you are entitled to and how much they say you should have received by now.
