BT Problems

I'm having a few problems with BT so any advice would be greatly appreciated;

My fiance and I moved to a new flat which needed a new line activating so I reluctanly agreed to pay the Installation charge of £124.99, but then the Engineer came round and damaged a wardrobe which 'needed' to be moved, when really all it needed was a back panel taking off which I offered to do, the Engineer moved the wardrobe without asking permission and damaged it, bear in mind this is a £300 8 foot long 7 foot high wardrobe with sliding doors, since he damaged it Ive had to take the doors off and some of the shelves out. I asked for his job number which apparently he didnt know and he wasnt wearing a name badge.

After he left we contacted BT but suprise suprise the appropriate phone line was closed, anyway I managed to get a claim form and sent it off to recieve the reply that they had been intouch with the Engineer and he has stated that he didnt touch the wardrobe. We have sent pictures of the damage but they are refusing to accept any liability, Is there anything more I can do?

Also Ive just been told that there might have been a active BT line in the apartment before we moved in so Im going to find out and see if I can claim the installation charge back.

I have told BT that I am prepared to go to court and take them to small claims, should I have done this or not?

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards

You're obviously a bit of a pratt putting an 8 foot by 7 foot wardrobe in front of a BT point then complaining that the engineer had to move it to get access to the socket...
I expect you would be here complaining if the engineer had shrugged his shoulders and left your property without doing the job.
Customers like you get on my tits...

Hello Mr BTMan, Im glad your as helpful as your other comerade (SP?)

The funny thing was I offered to take the back out but our Mr BTMan, continued to grunt and try moving it himself, I told it would take me a minute but nope, as usual, BT amatuers insist they can do everything them self, after all, he was a real man! Grrrr, smelly, unshaven and with no manners.

Anyway, the damage caused was because he tried lifting it, yes lifting a wardrobe of that size! and the top corners where the top and side fit together broke and the wood snapped leaving the screws visable on the inside of the wardrobe.

Was it you who came to my apartment? Preston area?

    Regards

Oh. Btw, I wouldn't have complained if you couldn't have gotten to the socket because your correct, it would have been my fault but I offered to help and the BTMan refused. Btw, your company has the most disgruntled customers

Edit: Are you supposed engineers sent out with Job numbers?

    Update:

Missis got a phone call from BT earlier, they've agreed to pay us the cost of the wardrobe back, as long as I stop calling Amanda Gerrett everyday! :j

    Who say persistance doesnt pay?

And this is why my job is so hard!

End of the day the engineer wouldnt be insured for moving furniture exactly for this reason! Openreach should be paying for his mistake.
