Working Tax Credit Question

I am thinking of applying for tax credit as my earnings will be dropping because i've come off nights to work days. The main question I am concerned about is that I am involved in a SAYE share save scheme which shows on my pay slips and I do have quite a substantial bit of savings in a Mini Cash Isa and some other shares. The SAYE scheme is what i'm concerned about, would I have to cancel it so improve my chances of getting tax credits with my low wage ?

From A Guide to Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit - May 2003
Unlike Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) and Disabled Persons Tax Credit (DPTC), we will not normally take capital (that is, deposits in current and savings accounts at banks and building societies, lump sum payments and the value of property, shares and other investments) into account when we work out your entitlement to tax credits. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
