Default PLUSBUS - Discounted bus fares for rail passengers

Official MoneySavingExpert.com Note:

Plusbus is a scheme allowing rail travellers to add bus travel at either the beginning or end of their journey for less than it would normally cost on local services. The ticket costs a set amount each day on top of your rail fare and some tickets cost as little as £1. What's more, railcard discounts also apply!

Use the Plusbus map to see if the scheme's operating in your area.

Back to the original post.....

This one appears to have passed under the radar.

Rail passengers can combine a discounted zonal bus ticket at the start and/or the end of their journey with a scheme called PLUSBUS.

For example, you can travel to Birmingham by train and benefit from unlimited bus travel, for a whole day, for just £1.50. A single cash fare probably costs more than that! Most PLUSBUS tickets are £2.00 or less and Railcard discounts also apply. You can even use PLUSBUS on Sheffield trams, but not on trams in Blackpool. Tickets are available for most cities and towns in the UK.

Rail season ticket holders can also add discounted bus travel to their ticket, there are no peak time restrictions with PLUSBUS.
