The 5p min from BT landline to Uk mobile has now finally finished.
Phone Cheap now have a new 0871 number at 6p a min. If you phone the old number you will get a recorded announcement. Phone Cheap have updated their website also.

At the moment, the MSE UK Callchecker still shows the 0844/5p/minute number but it'll automatically update when it does its 'trawl' overnight tonight (EDIT 22/3/07 - and it did).
As a point of interest, 'The Heinz (Orchid) program' will be updated this weekend - and will retain the 6p/minute weekdays (2p/minute weekends) 18185 routing for calls to UK mobiles.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
