I had the same problem. I solved it with the help of a thread in this forum but cannot find it now. There is a thread dated the 17th of this month with the sam e problem but not the solution. I remember it had to be deleted manually and will keep racking my memory.

Yes, but have you actually tried to remove it using AdAware?

It does not seem to be a spyware problem. Try the link in the Chippy_Minton's post above.

AdAware - perform a system scan. After its completion you should get a list of "potential" and "current" troubles. Right-click any item in the list, choose an option to select everything, click Next and proceed in accordance with prompts.

This is what Mintys link says, surely it means that there is nothing to worry about????????

DSO-Exploit is a security gap in Internet Explorer, Outlook and Outlook Express. Microsoft did already close this gap with security updates, so with current Windows updates and patches installed, it will no longer be a threat to your system.
Spybot-S&D will still detect the DSO-Exploit, but instead of fixing it for good, it will unfortunately again set an invalid value. Therefore it will again be found with every scan.
This little bug in Spybot-S&D has already been repaired and the respective fix will soon be available as a program update.

Update: As many users were concerned about it not being fixed, and as the fix does not work and almost all users have the Windows Updates anyway, with the current detection rules update (Feb 16) the DSO Exploit will temporarily be ignored.

Personally I would interpret it as a need to install the latest security and program fixes and patches from Windows Update.

As long as you are up to date with your windows patches, then you have nothing to worry about, ignore the results. It is a known issue with spybot that it will keep flagging these DSO exploits up. There is a fix on its way for spybot (if it's not out there already).
