i regularly delete my temp internet files
but should i be deleting the cookies also?

what happens if i delete them?

or if i dont delete them ?

wot are they anyway?

Here's a good site to tell you about cookies

They are needed for websites to remember who you are. If leave mse for a few minutes to browse a different page and then come back, mse still remembers who you are because it detects the cookie it sent you earlier.

A lot of cookies aren't needed and are just put in your system to spy on you.
Some people are worried about long lasting cookies like the google cookie for various privacy implications.

Personally I delete cookies every few days - I don't see why my system should be clogged up with ones I don't need. The only thing that happens is that I have to re-login to sites like mse

I assume at the moment you press Delete Files button at Tools>Internet Options. If there you press Settings then View Files that takes you into TemporaryInternetFiles folder. The cookies appear at the top. There you could select files and/or cookies to delete. Use ctrl and/or shift to select blocks etc
