Lurking under the kitchen sink

Today I decided to clean out the cupboards under the sink. I'm ashamed to admit I can't remember how long it is since I did it. Anyway, I was shocked to find the following:
3 bottles of spray kitchen cleaner
2 tins of furniture polish
4 tins of air freshener
2 tins of fly spray
2 half used packets of washing soda
5  tins of WD40 type maintenance spray (DH)
1 tin suede guard
2 half used tubs of Oxy stain removal granules
2 tins of carpet foam
11 samples of washing powder/liquid/fabric conditioner
Half a sachet of mouldy cat food
various part tins of varnish/paint
3 tins of stuff to clean the black bits of the car
umpteen jay cloths, nylon and metal scrubbers
And, that's apart from the few things I have readily to hand for every day use.
Hmmm, don't think we'll be buying anything else for at least a year.
What about you? What do you have hiding away?
Confession is good for the soul.:rotfl:

I cleared mine right out last year and it was amazing what was in there. It's still full but that's because I'm using up stuff in between using Stardrops. It should gradually improve!0

Every time I buy new washing-up cloths, I wash the old ones and keep them because they might come in handy for other jobs. I now have about 20 old cloths under the sink but still find myself refusing to throw out old tea-towels because they might just come in handy for other jobs."Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

I did a similar tidy-up and yes, I have LOADS of cleaning, polishing etc products. I will try and use them all up over the next year... or 2...or 3....:oSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0

If you have old tea towels why are you BUYING washing up cloths? In the last 20 years I have never bought a tea towel, washing up cloth, duster or floor cloth. Cleaning cloths are always re-born from something else.
Under my sink (actually above my sink- a throw back from when the MATHLETTS were ickle) I have:
Wood oil for feeding the dining suite
Glass cleaner (yeh I know vinegar works too:rolleyes: )
Washing up liquid (for all hard surface/floor cleaning)
Floor wax
Bleach
DW tabs
Fragrance oil
In the laundry room I have:
Economy bio powder
Fabric conditioner
Laundry soap

My kitchen cupbard is very similar to yours Jayar.
I have promised myself i won't buy any more until i have finished off what i have under the sink.
Will take for ever.
I have so many fancy cleaners and stardrops is the one i use all the time. Just finished a bottle of cillet bang. I hated that cleaner so much.
Hopefully i will save some money and get some cupbard space back.
Have a similar broblem with the cupboard under the bathroom sink. Full of soaps and shower/bath gel. Determined not to buy anymore or waste what we have. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0 -

I don't even dare to look!
I'm ashamed to say that I was an advertiser's dream until I discovered what a sucker I was being. If the ad said it was good then I would buy it. Consequently I have a cupboard full of the most ridiculous things (why on earth did I ever think I needed a special cleaner just for the microwave?)
Thankfully I have come to my senses, and realise that Stardrops does most things and bleach or soda do the rest.
I'm planning to sort through all those old rusty aerosols tomorrow (this thread has given me a kick up the bum!) and use what I can and bin what I can't.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
i'm slowly working my way through mine. i have lots of different stuff though only bleach is a duplicate. the most weird thing is a flash degreaser that was a try me free, i just pour some into the mopping water to use it up! once all this is gone all i will use is stardrops in a spray bottle (have already done this), diluted white vinegar (great for cleaning the george foreman), and i will probably make a soda crystals mix too to put in a bolttle. not sure i'll ever be tempted away from my bleach spray, though....a bottle lasts me over a year but it does get the worktops nice and clean. i have hundreds of washing up cloths and sponges, but rarely wash up - no more buying them for me for a while!! my under sink cupboard also contains my toolbox, spare water filter cartridges, extension leads etc and some beerMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
