Hi guys!:hello:
I hope I'm not gonna get into trouble, but Tiff wonders if it would be a good idea to start a thread on weight loss and the associated health offers, gym offers, weight loss groups offers, equipment offers, dietary food offers, meal tips, recipes, resources and ideas on where to go to get expert advice to get MSE fit -gasp!- all in one place.
Obviously, we can't post medical advice etc. but there's a big niche market out there for people wanting to be healthy and we can try and see if we can do it the MSE way.
Of course, if we're eating less, then we're buying less - very MSE! :j
It was an MSE Martin competition that started all of this. Twenty of us have just got our 'Fattitude' dvds (thanks Martin!:T ) and we - and others - could support each other in our battle for healthy weight loss!
Allow me to start...
My name is Tiff and I am fat!:D

Being unfit and overweight affects your health and can lead to all sorts of problems, including low self-esteem and health problems.
It's all too easy to get ripped off money-wise in the effort to be healthy and to lose weight.
:money: TIP #1 - If you are very overweight, we all know we should see our gp before starting a new health regime.
Gps are a gateway to resources and did you know that for people who are in poor health and needing to get fit, that your gp can refer you to your dietitian and the physiotherapy department at your local hospital? It's free and I'd think safer, than going to a normal gym!
I hope this thread will be helpful to us all in supporting each other and that we can maybe have a smile along the way.;)
Good luck guys!
Much Love,
Tiff xxx

Isn't this simply going to duplicate Lose Weight 9
or are you thinking that this new thread should be devoted solely to actual weight loss/healthy eating information so leaving the Lose Weight 9 thread for mutual support.? If so that would be a good idea as I tend to drop "weight loss scientific/medical research findings" into the lose weight thread where it rapidly gets lost among the chat.
Slug-a-Bed Young Children May Resist Extra Pounds
Children who get less sleep than recommended are significantly more likely to be overweight or obese than their peers who get the right amount of sleep."Sleeping an additional hour reduced young children's chance of being overweight from 36% to 30%, while it reduced older children's risk from 34% to 30%,"
Remember each hour before 12 is worth more than each hour after 12.
So it's far more important to go to bed earlier than get up later. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Hi there I'm Auditbabe and I'm fat. Health problems have prevented me from going to to gym but I've won one of the DVDs I think a support group is a great idea and the suggestion about going to the physio is a great idea. I've just bought a cross trainer to help with my lack of mobility I'll let you know how that goes. Hopefully I'm not too heavy for it. I hope this thread kicks offSuicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.0

Hi Ted,
Actually Ted, I was unaware of Lose Weight 9 tbh - it looks a very friendly thread.:T
I think what I thought of, is that it's aimed more at people who, whether it's through poor health or limited finances or both, can find user-friendly information that may be more helpful to them than the standard market options. Some people are so overweight they wouldn't be able to face a lycra-ridden gym, for example.
I saw how many people tried to win the Fattitude dvd that MSE Martin offered. It made me think that people who need to lose a lot of weight and are in poor physical and/or mental health, might need that extra bit of support and information as to resources and tips.
I think the other threads will offer good ideas too - the old-style moneysavers recipes and Lose Weight 9 for example,- and sensible ideas with an eye to what you can accomplish and how, when you have poor health problems. I think that's the slight difference.
The people on the Fattitude thread seemed to want a place to belong, share, support and inform and asked if someone could start a thread, which I did because the Fattitude thread will probably close. Supporting others is important if your confidence is very low, so chat may well be a helpful and useful encouragement.
I know you're a regular poster Ted so I expect you will probably post your articles. I'm not a mod in any way hun or any kind of expert - I think our mod is Glad on the Health Board. Apologies if I'm wrong.:o No offence either to any other thread :T - we will all find what we need in all the different forums, not just on this thread. I hope I haven't upset anyone - this thread isn't 'mine' - it will develop it's own character as it grows, like any other thread. Hope this helps.
