Yorkshire Building Society Regular Saver

Options
I'm tempted to open one of these, but am a bit worried about losing the bonus interest by mistake.

If I need to close it, what's the best way bearing in mind I'm only allowed "one part withdrawal" per year?

Once you've made your part withdrawal, simply reduce the monthly payments to £10 for the rest of the account year (or until you can afford to increase them again).

As it doesn't say specifically here I'm guessing that closure (unlike the single partial withdrawal allowed) automatically results in the loss of bonus for the 'current year'. Two options therefore:

    1) withdraw to the minimum balance rather than close (and pick up your full yearly rate just after the anniversary and then close)

    2) time closure to just after the anniversary and then all you lose is the differential interest (the bonus) for a short period

    Thanks for all your replies.

Am I right in thinking you cannot operate/view this account online at all? How do those of you not near a branch keep up-to-date?

No, you'd be wrong - although you will probably need an Internet Saver account (or offset mortgage savings account/e-ISA) to be able to *see*, and transfer into, the regular saver.

Yes you can. Once you have an account open, you can register for online services here to view your YBS accounts, including ISAs. If you have another, or more than one 'suitable' account, you can also use this option to process internal transfers.

Coming in a bit late on this one.

    Question:
Can this account be operated online?
I only want to apply for a YBS Regular Saver. Nothing else.
  • A Regular Saver account is not an internet account.

To operate any account online then you need to open an Internet Saver account. Then open the Regular Saver account and configure the Internet
account to deposit/withdraw from your Regular Saver account.
