What's the best and cheapest headset to use with VOIP - have been using 1899 VOIP and so far well impressed. As I use it more - it seems worthwhile investing in a decent headset for it.

I wondered about this too, haven't used it yet but would like to know if its better investing in a phone or using a headset?0

The best and cheapest?! Impossible.
One of the cheapest is a ‘free’ one (£3 p&p) from savepoint . Very poor quality, especially microphone. Very short cable.
Plantronics from Argos (£18) are very good, but are far from cheapest.
I think LabTec from Argos (£10-£13) or elsewhere (cheaper?) have decent quality.0 -

Perhaps not the best use of the English lang. by me - just after a decent headset or VOIP phone that doesn't cost the earth. The best is probably in the hundreds while the cheapest is under a fiver - just want a combination of the two. Thought it might be useful - since lots of folks are interested in the 1899 VOIP.0 -
Looking for a reasonable headset myself as the FREE BT ones never arrived!0

Mine neither. Received an email saying being despatched and then a week later an email saying it had been a special offer when signing up for BT broadband in January and that I was not eligible.0 -
i have just bought a logitech headset from ebay
thought it would be better than the unbranded ones, but we will see.
i bought it from these people:

seemed ok for £4.99 delivered,
think they are something like £10-12 usually?0 -
ebuyer do a "voip phone" which has a button to switch from landline to voip etc. Plugs direct into your ADSL router so that you don't need you pc. Easier for rest of household to make calls if pc is in use. Currently approx £78, but was £30 some weeks ago. May be worth waiting to see if it comes down again.

I have just bought a bluetooth headset (Plantronics M2500), paired it to my laptop with a bluetooth dongle and hey presto I can have wireless voip calls. If you don't already have a dongle these can be picked up from about a tenner and a BT headset can be picked up from about £17.99 for budget ones. I use voip quite a lot now so if you are still thinking about a headset, go for either a dedicated voip handest or go bluetooth.
Incidently I use both skype and 1899.0 -
take a look at this, better than a headset.

Agree - I have a similar one, the one thats on the FireFly site - and I use that software with it on 1899, so the phone shows the numbers in the phone list.0
