New born baby

Options
I have several questions.
We are expecting a new baby soon I when I went the IR site to see what I was eligible to it stated £651 (I already have 1 child).
I thought it should be £545 per child and a new born child was entitled to double this for the first year is this correct.
Is CTC adjusted according to your income?
Also my wife is taking 8 months off work, for the last months when she is receiving no maternity pay can I claim for any other tax credits?

    Highwayman,

I would think a visit to your Citizens Advice Bureau or other Welfare Benefits advice centre would be in order as you need to check several different things. Take details of your income etc. with you, including for the tax year 2003-4 so that they can check the WTC/CTC allowances.
