thnaks for the post, though i think woolies are having laugh if they think they can trick people into getting this deal at half price.......do they think we believe them when they say it was originally 999, when its barely worth 499....youre probably better off either building yourself or getting one ready built from dare i say it, dell or pcworld.
CRT's are worth tuppence.....
its a celeron
small hard drive but ok for most

Delivery Info: Usually ships in 21 days
The parts are still at EBuyer then...
May just be worth the £499 but no more.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
A grand as the RRP for this PC system!!!! Someone is taking the P***
At £499 it's about £100 overpriced, so this is creative marketing with a capital C for CON. There are much better deals to be found on the Dell website if people are willing to wait for the right one to come up.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
do they think we believe them when they say it was originally 999, when its barely worth 499
The product would have been on sale in at least 25 woolies stores at the higher price for at least 28 days so it definatley did retail at the higher price, whether the system is worth the higher price is questionable but hey they can charge what they like.Charles J0 -

Yup, they hide them in a corner somewhere! Nobody buys them.
Alternatively, there is the emmeffeye (think about it...) pricing method: I once went to a C*met or C*rrys (can't remember which - it was when C*met still had 'Sales') in Pontypool - I couldn't believe the prices!!! When I asked one of the staff, he told me it was one of their stores at which they sold everything at the "WAS" price for 28 days before "The Sale" started. "We don't usually sell much in this shop" he said....British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

No one should think this is a good deal. When I saw the half price claim in the shop I thought i was disgraceful.0 -
The Woolies ad doesn't say "was £999" it says "RRP £999" - I find it hard to believe they've had this on sale in more than 25 stores because I don't know any of my local Woolies who even stock PCs.
This is the good old electrical retailer con - think of a bloody big number and call that the RRP, then halve it and still make 40% margin. In exactly the same way huge piles of stuff appeared on the shelves of my Woolies in the sale at 1/2 price - but NONE of it was sold in the same shop before the sale. All you can do is look at the "after" price and make your own judgement as to whether it represents a bargain or not. In the case of much of the Woolies sale stuff - PC included - these are NOT a bargain.
And I wasn't shooting anyone down - I just thought I'd point out what a complete load of sharks Woolies appear to be.
p.s. And the advert is a load of crap - "the ideal PC package for ALL the family" - unless your family includes any kids who want to play any games other then Jump Ahead Toddlers (because the graphics are rubbish). You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

er durr.....i wasnt shooting down the poster if you actually read my post...mine was a dig at woolies and i thought i was doing people a favour to be aware that this isnt such a good deal.....maybe i shouldnt bother

I like the 'flat CRT monitor' which suggests that it is a flat panel monitor when it's just a regular TV sized one.BE NICE - IT'S FREE!0
