Car Insurance Admin Fees

I am writing this post to see if people believe there is any connection in my current situation to those surrounding the "bank charges" issue.
I have just move address (again) and as you image l have had to ring a lot of companies and change my address. When it came to my car insurance l faced an unwelcome surprise.
The main points of the situation are this:
The only changes resulting from me moving where (1) the address it self, (2) my contact phone number and e-mail.
The parking arrangement (off road allocated parking), car, mileage per year, named driver etc remained the same.
I excepted my premium to change due to the change in postcode, as it did but what l didn't except was a £12.50 admin fee. The insurance company claim it is to cover the cost of updating, reprinting and posting new documentation to me. It took two phone calls and an e-mail for someone to give me the difference for the figure for the admin fee and premium change. The total charge was £17.81.
I have looked at my insurance documents and believe only 6-7 A4 pieces of paper need reprinting due to the address change. At the time l did make a fuss on the phone about the admin charge but felt myself to be placed in an impossible position and had to agree to the charge because of page 6 of my policy booklet which explains that the customer must inform the insurance company of any material changes in circumstances as they can affect cover or claims.
Do people feel that £12.50 is a fair value for an address to be changed on a computer database (the computer automatically updates everything and calculates the premium change) and 7 A4 pieces of paper be posted?
Do people know the admin fee charged by other car insurance companies?
My work tends to be on 12-18 month contacts and l normally move rented housing at the end of a contact.
All comments welcome.

I think others have posted on here that they have been charged more than that.
This is not a penalty for breach of contract, it is a fee for a service provided and therefore does not fall into the same category as bank charges.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I had a feeling it wouldn't be the same as bank charges but l would like to hear how much people are paying when they move as l am sure l will be moving again at the end of my current 12 month contact.

think i paid about £15 admin charge once when mum and dad were coming to stay and i wanted to put dad on my insurance for 1 week. My current insurance paperwork states in the T&C's that admin charges are £15.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0

Most insurence companies charge more that that for admin fee. Mine charges 25.00 (althought as I have never made a change I have not been charged as yrt!)
The admin fee would have been stated in the terms and conditions when you took out the policyBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Lots of previous threads covering change address / cancellation fees. Most have been in excess of the £12.50 you quote.
A sample here that come up under 'admin fees' :-
