how to make a baby wrap carrier

Options
Okay achallenge for the old style forum... I'm having a baby in 10 weeks and after researching slings and baby carriers i have come across numberous sites for natural child rearing and they describe the pieces of fabric they use to tie babies into a carrying position including using bed sheets!!! c

... some of the manufactured ones i have seen to buy are £35+

i have hunted for a pattern but i'm not having much luck... just wondered if anyone knows what size of fabric i would need? Apparently 90% cotton 10% lycra is a good materiel but can't find the right size.

Has anyone made a sling or carrier and do they have any advice?

Hi just found this thread does anyone have any other patterns for slings they could recommend. I like the idea of making a pouch style but I need one that can be adjusted as both my sons are to be dads soon and they are both 12in taller than their wives, not sure about rings are they safe enough for big babies???

We used them in Zambia. Called a [SIZE=-1]Chitenge. Basically a piece of fabric, any fabric, even a rectangular table cloth would do..

Lean forward, place baby on back. Alteratively place baby on hip or on front wrap chitenge round and tie a double knot. Used to carry kids up to age 6. Very comfy.

join your local group and try before you buy, they have advice sessions and a sling lending library.
