hi all,
sorry to the moderators i wasn't sure which heading this message belonged in...
i have filled out court papers but just had a thought when you put in the total are you meant to add on the interest then or let the courts do it automatically?

Are you talking about filling in form N1 to issue the claim at your local court? How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

hi Rex,
No i did it via money claim0 -
HERE is some guidance on filling the claim out (yes, you do add the interest to the total).
Quote................
Q. Do I need to tick the box about reserving the right to claim interest?
A. If you wish to claim interest in you claim you will need to tick this box and then copy and paste the pop up box that appears into the particulars. You must ensure you complete the brackets in this paragraph correctly to enable you to claim interest.
Q. How do I work out the interest I am entitled to?
A. If you are claiming interest under section 69 of the county courts act 1984 you must multiply the amount you are claiming by 8% and then divide this by 365. This gives you the daily rate of interest. You must then work out how many days have passed since the date the invoice was due until the date the claim is issued. Not only must this be stated in the particulars of claim, but this figure must also be added to the amount you are claiming. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Dont forget to use martins interest calculator:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,#interest
or the penaltycharges one:

both are great tools and easy to use.
btkAll advice given by thekid is in good faith but remember these important facts:- I'm lucky enough to live in Scotland(Scots Law may apply)...

sorry to sound dim but it as been a long day and i am still slightly confused over this, think i have messed up on the abbey claim i did tick that i was appling for interest but just put the total cost of the charges in the total box as it asked what the daily interest would be, so i assumed interest would automatically be added when the judgement was made. as i couldn't see how i could calculate the complete interest amount as i didn't know when the bank would pay up so i couldn't give an accurate daily interest amount.
if that makes sense?! anyhow i am about to start court procedings with IF.com and i desperately want to get these papers right. Is there a chance the interest could still be claimed with Abbey or have i lost that forever?0
