I'd recommend:

this is free and small. Can trim mp3 files as well as incrase volume, bitrate, and do a few other neat things.
I'd advise adding inklink to the Gaming section as everyone loves that!
Definitely add Google Picasa for the photo's section! An amazing free prog.
Finally i'd be tempted to priortiise some lists. VLC Player is a fantastic piece of software which saves a lot of time messing with different codecs!

Would definitely agree with using foxit, infinitely better than adobe acrobat, especially considering the scare about it recently. How about adding MediaMonkey to the list?
