DD and I have decided to do more crafts this year. We've started with card kits that we each received in our stockings. We've enjoyed them, but don't have many ideas to make our own from scratch. We've found a few web sites which give ideas, but we'd love to see some of your creations, especially those which use items that we might find in our craft box, or around the home.
Will post photos of ours when they're dry...... just tried to stand mine up and the sequins started slipping
Sorry, tell a lie, DD made a couple of cards for her friends earlier in the year
Will find the photos and post them, too.
Many thanks, Penny x

DH got me a sizzix machine for christmas - I love it - will find some pics of my cards when I'm allowed back on the main pc.
Piccies should enlarge if you click on them. I've sold all this lot and need to start on the next batch."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

This year I have made 150 hand made Christmas cards. Largely by canabalizing and recycling greetings cards we have received and a few bits from Mrs MATH's craft room. She is a DoCrafts demonstrator so there is loads to pick from. LOL
Here are a few samples, some are a bit pink n girly but they were Mrs MATH's birthday crads given a new lease of life.

Some fab cards there Math....I'm very jealous - can I come and raid your fraft room????
Pen - luckily I had loads of stuff before I started making cards - lots of ribbons, sequins, beads etc it was just a case of working out who I was making cards for and looking on ebay for suitable bits and bobs.
I tend to buy my cards in bulk - 100 at a time, works out cheaper in the long run but you can go to somewhere like paper mills shop if you have one and get a box of paper and card reasonably - you can cut and bend them for cards and make pretty envelopes or buy packs of white ones from pound shops.
I think it's just a case of imagination - I save sweet papers, cut headings from magazines, use beads, string, chalks, anything and everything.....
It's very addictive though and I've now got enough craft stuff to supply a small shop (ok quite a large one) but I do try and make back enough in sales to stock up on the next lot of stuff.
Both my DD's love it all too, a great hobby for the whole family really."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi, I am a keen card maker too, and never buy cards anymore - I make them all. Sorry I can't post any pictures as I have no idea how!
I am doing a course on Wednesday morning for new ideas for ATC's (Artist Trading Cards). Can't waitSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0 -
Hi Pen Pen, Ive been making cards for about 2yrs now, sadly, I cant post any pics on here, as I dont know how to.
Ive made a various of selections for friends/family, also make to re-sell, birthday invites aswell as the whole wedding package.
If you have sky, try watching create & craft, I think its on channel 661, I usually watch that sometimes for inspiration. Also gives you an insight on which tools are best for the job, also demonstartions, Ive never purchased from there tho, as they are expensive, usually get cheaper when shopping around, or on ebay.
Also, look on ebay under crafts, cardmaking, toppers, you get some fab ideas from there also.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Pooky - if you don't mind me asking, how much do you sell your cards for, and where / how do you sell them? I love making cards but am not sure if they're quite good enough to sell: yours and MATHs cards look great and really professional.
(and by the way: you didn't happen to buy some of your stickers at easons did you - I have some just the same!)
Crazychick: I love that channel! Hours of happy craft watching :j I agree that they can be really expensive, but sometimes they can have a really creat 'pick of the day / week' that is good value. I love watching for the ideas.0 -
I sell them for £1 a pop - £1.50 for specific orders cos I'd more than likely have the buy stuff in. Friends and family buy them and DH works in a large office so he takes a box in once a month.
I've seen people sell their cards for much more but it's not a business for me - just a hobby and as long as I make back what I've spent then I'm happy."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
