Colour Screen cordless phone with SIM card reader for £40

I've recently being trying to teach my mother how to use her mobile phone and now she wants to replace her ageing cordless phone for the house. Well, if your mother is anything like mine you'll understand if I say that I really don't want to have to take her through the learning process all over again. It was for this reason that I started looking at cordless handsets that are designed to look and behave like mobile phones in the hope that she'll take to it like a duck to water once she's got used to using her mobile phone.
Until recently, cordless handsets all tended to look and operate like something out of the ark relative to their mobile cousins. Well, over the past 12 months they've come on in leaps and bounds. One of my favourites is the BT Calypso 1100 which boasts, among other things, a colour screen and the ability to transfer your phone book from your SIM card into its memory. As if that's not enough, it's also very pleasant to look at (something that you can't often say about cordless phones). However, this handset was considered to be an expensive luxury when it was released last year at a price of around £100.
Thankfully, it is now well within most peoples budgets as Amazon have just reduced the price of the single BT Calypso 1100 handset from £69.99 to only £39.99. This is an absolutely cracking price. By comparison, BT Shop want £79.99 for it. The Amazon sales ranking of this phone was well over 250 yesterday - it's now at 70 and falling.

However, if you would prefer to buy the twin version of this (with an additional handset) then, amazingly enough, BT Shop work out cheapest at only £79.99 - Yes, you've not read that wrong. That's exactly the same price that they are selling the single handset for. What's more, if you enter the discount code BUAW49 at stage 3 of the chekout process (after you've provided your contact details) you can get a 10% discount, reducing the price to only £71.99. By comparison, Amazon want £99.99 for the twin set.

Been considering buying a colour cordless phone, but they are far too expensive in the shops. The same set in Argos for the twin pack is £119.99, you also forgot to mention if you buy through rpoints it saves you an extra £1.80, every little helps!

Just received my twin set and they are excellent, only disadvantage is i thought they were able to send/receive text messages which they dont, and the ringtones are a bit boring too, these are minimal disadvantages though. Thanks again reestit0
