Car Insurance - Legal Cover do I need it?

Car Insurance - Legal Cover do I need it???

I'm insuring my wifes car and looking to see whether I need legal cover protection. On the lloydstsb website it says legal cover is used for recovering costs when the accident is not your fault??

My question is if the car is being insured fully comprehensive protected do I need this cover... If we god forbid have an accident couldn'r we use the no win no fees services as advertised on the TV.

My question is pro's and con's of having legal cover....????? The difference of have the legal cover is approx £30.

Thanks in advance.

    yes its very useful!
i had an accident last year where is wasnt my fault howerver the third party wouldnt admit liability! luckly i had legal cover so my claim was passed straight to a solicator who delt with my case! my solicator helped me claim unisured losses and delt with all leters sent to and from insurers!
Its a lifesaver if you happen to have an accident!

  • Yes, it is well worth the extra if you have to claim.

Yes! Its been a godsend to me in the last two years. Had a woman crash into me, admit liabilty then deny it all at a later stage. Well worth the small extra premium.

I will always take this for car and house insurance.
Remember some companies will only offer £25k and some more.Claims can run
into ££££,s and I am not confident with No win no fee.
Some I think even offer 100k+ legal cover.

I did do a standalone one year with Liverpool and Victoria as I was happy with the house insurance with another company, but not the legal cover so
    L&V done that.

Maybe other members know of companies that can do standalone,or if there
is a table for the policies which show the amounts covered and the premiums
and terms. One for Martin via pm I guess.

Wouldn't want to run short of cash through the case.

The sum insured is normally the amount of solicitors fees and dispersements covered (eg £25,000) and not the maximum size of claim you personally are making against the other party.

That the solicitors costs etc top £25k
I would rather have £50k+ or more if it's going for a similar price.
Martin has been pm and may look into a chart comparision.
