Can anyone recomend a freeware phote editor? I've tried the Gimp and the add on Gimpshop, and find them both difficult to use. I have previously used Jasc Paint Shop Pro (version 7 and version 9) and found them to be ideal for me, but I no longer have this and am not keen on the latest version.

Picasa from Google is good for basic manipulation too.

How about Paint.NET?0

Picasa is good and has alot of support. The G.I.M.P. is regarded as a free older version of Photoshop (Photoshop being the best package about).
You could also try demo versions of Adobe Fireworks or Photoshop and just uninstall and reinstall when the trail is over.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0 -
Some good recommendations already - I mainly use Paint.NET (-TangleFoot-'s suggestion) & the free Serif PhotoPlus 7 (one version up from zenmaster's link).
For something more complex, I use Paint Shop Pro 9 (secondhand retail-boxed version that I got off eBay for around £10). G
Picasa, as the others have mentioned, is excellent as a basic editor/album. The GIMP for more complex stuff. G0 -
