All this pay per mile to combat congestion.
Get all the illegal’s off the roads first, and then see if they're still congested.
All the no-license at all, suspended-license, disqualified-license, no MOT, no road Tax, insurance right offs, no insurance, driving without putting the log book in proper owners name, Non UK approved license, ECT ANYTHING that makes them illegal.
Impound the cars (they are being used in a criminal act). Crush the bangers; auction anything decent to pay towards road maintenance.
That will probably take off about a million cars, see if it's still as congested then.

At the current estimation, there's about two million unisured drivers out there  , so twice your guesstimate, therefore, even less congestion:T !Halifax Personal Loan £23,000 :think:0

LOL, how right you are!!!0 -
There have been loads of threads about this and its surprising how many think road pricing is a good idea!!
If and when they introduce it ,the above posters may be right ,and only the illegals will be left.
I stated that if the £1.30 per mile to travel at peak times was correct,it would cost me £250 per week to go to work, several posters said it would have to hit hard to prove effective, they must be earning good salaries!!!
There are two sides to every story.

People will just give up work & go on the dole, they won't be able to afford to go to work. If it costs you £250 a week to go to work, can you afford to work
. Most couldn't.
Crazy labour government, they want us all to be equal, like Animal Farm - George Orwell style equal, communist style equal. Government in big cars, the rest of us on public transport.0 -
I live in a village, we have a bus service Mondays to Saturday, none on Sundays & bank holidays. It stops around 7pm during the week & 5.30 on Saturday. There is also another bus that goes somewhere else Mon-Fri (another dirrection), there are 4 of them a day! One other bus goes somewhere else on a Tuesday only!!! There is no train station within walking distance, you would have to get a bus there AND I LIVE IN SURREY A FEW MILES FROM GATWICK!!!!!! FGS!!!
Can you imagine what it's like for people who live in real rural places.
I need a car, to get my daughter to college, 16 mile round trip twice a day. 32 miles per day to get her to college, how much will that cost me? Much of that is country roads, will that be free/less?0
