Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at getting THIS Hanns-G LCD Tv - It looks good and the reviews are good and the price is good but I've never heard of the brand and I really want a good quality set as it'a for a present so was just wondering what the techie experts on here know about the make and what you think of it? Thanks for any info.

Regards

Michelle

Dunno. I'm using a 19" Hanns-G monitor. It's only a couple of weeks old so I can't vouch for the reliability but the picture is fine and the refresh rate is only 6mS, which is darn fast.
  • using one at the minute, and it has a very good picture, however the sound from the monitor is !!!!!!, but if you use speakers no worries.

I can't comment on the LCD TV, but I use one of their monitors and I have nothing but praise for the brand, I beleive they make quite a few units for other brand names but are basically the Hanns.G make.

I've also got a few of their monitors and am happy with them.

Well so far it seems that they make good quality screens. From reading some threads over on AV Forums though they talk about response time a lot and the response time for this tv is 18ms which seems quite slow. It's not something I would bother about as I'd just use it as a TV but my brother plays his PS2 games on his TV and could also use this to double up as a monitor and play PC games on it too so I'm a little worried this response time could be too slow - any experts on here who could enlighten me on this?! Thanks.

    HI Volks400,

Thanks for the link but they don't seem to have any sets in the 20-26" range - it jumps from 19" to 32" which is too small and too big respectively! I'm still looking so any other suggestions gratefully received!

yea true they dont have any 21-26", but plz remember if you are going for hd lcd then anything less than 32" is waste of money. if you are going for only lcd then its ok , woolworths have quite a few. do check out reviews at avforums.com its for uk.

    cheers

    Hi volks400,

Why is getting something HD ready under 32" not good then? I just assumed it would be best for the future for it to be HD ready?? I thought the ones Woolworths would have were of inferior quality - I'm looking to get a decent quality brand name set. I've been looking at the HannsG model and a Philips model and they are both HD Ready but I'm a little worried about the response time on them. They're both coming out at under £350 though as I really don't want to spend any more than that. I've been looking at AV Forums too. It's getting quite confusing and I'm running out of time! Thanks for the help.

    Regards

Because the lines are so close together on a sub 32" screen that you'll barely see any difference between HD and SD.

18mS refresh rate is generally considered too slow for games (including sport on TV). I wouldn't settle for anything higher than 12mS.
