BG Click Energy price increase

British Gas has delivered an unwelcome birthday present to 30,000 online energy customers as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of its privatisation today. The group said that it was ending the price freeze for Click Energy customers, which had been operating since September 4 — the day it hit millions of other customers with rises of 12.4 per cent for gas and 9.4 per cent for electricity.
Click Energy customers will start paying the higher tariffs from January 8 and this will mean a medium user of energy will pay £69 a year more for gas and £29 more for electricity, according to uSwitch, the price comparison website.0 -
In the past BG were always the first to announce their rises in the round of tariff increases.
They lost loads of customers to other utility companies who delayed an increase for a few weeks/months as a ‘loss leader’ to lure the unsuspecting to move their company and, once they had built up a larger customer base, hit them with an increase.
BG seem to have learnt the lesson and are copying what so many of the other utility companies practice.
The only people who will gain are the parasitic comparison websitess who will earn more huge commission from the droves who will change companies – again! This commission is of course eventually passed on to us consumers in higher prices.0 -
I sometimes think if you have found a company you are happy with, then it isn't worth all that much changing, because they all put their prices up eventually anyway. Just make sure you're on the best tarrif for your chosen company.
I'm happy with Powergen Online tarriff with an extra Winter Discount at the moment.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I just swapped us to BG Click Energy from Powergen with the hope of saving about £30 a year. Not a lot I know but hey.. ever bit counts right

Anyway.. out of interest, is there some sort of time limit on these contracts or can you swap out whenever you like - assuming I wanted to go back to Powergen in January :question:I imagine bugs and girls have a dim suspicion that nature played a cruel trick on them, but they lack the intelligence to really comprehend the magnitude of it. -- Calvin & Hobbes :rotfl:0 -

You can swap out again when you like. I would wait until after your first bill has come through though, as you should get £15 off both gas and electricity.0 -

Some guys seem really surprised at this rise but its been well published for a few months that they were delaying the increase for this tariff until early new year, glad I went for Ebico!
