Tesco voucher acceptance policy

I've just had massive row with a SA from hell. She absolutley refused to accept any of my coupons and said she wants nothing to with the 'fraud' .
She called her supervisor who backed her up but he did except my Sainsbury's £4 off £20 spend.
Last week the same supervisor accepted all my coupons. After she left she 'aplogised' for the woman who is held up the queue (me) and then made derogatory remarks about her fellow asian workers and their relaxed attitued to accepting vouchers.
I've reported her the HO her behaviour was unacceptable. Anywa they told me they no longer accept coupons unless you have bought the product since February. I have used loads since then - they need to get their house in order. Is anyone else having problems? My tesco is Brent Park.

The policy seems to vary according to what day of the week, time of day and even what colour knickers the CA has on.
I got accused of theft when I tried to use coupons for products I had bought in Tesco earlier in the year. To me they need to not only sort out their policy but also the attitude of some of their staff towards customers. Its not a nice experience to be belittled and embaressed in front of other customers just because a member of staff is on an ego trip or is having a bad day0 -
I went to my usual Mr T last night and was pleased to see one of my regular 'bankers' for coupons on the till. However she said she needed to call a supervisor as they had all had a letter about voucher use and the supervisor would not take my book token or several others. I did still manage £12 off a £40 spend so not too bad. I think they have these purges sometimes and then everything goes back to normal.
Personally I can't see the problem as they get the money back plus a small handling charge so as long as the coupons are valid they don't lose anything and it is an incentive to shop there. Also I hardly ever see anyone else using coupons so it can't be that big a problem.
Hopefully the christmas rush will mean them going back to taking loads again, I hope so.0 -
Seeing where your from I knew it must have been Brent Park. I put through a load there on the Self Scan and used 2 £1.00 vouchers only to be shouted at by the assistant that I couldn't use that many and she would have to void them, which she did. So I stack up all my shopping back on the scanner and told her she could have the whole lot back, and walked out. I hate this shop with a passion.0

Well done toadyfrog, you did the right thing! :T
I have not yet had to do the same, altho' I did find one Tesco last week where the cashier said 'no coupons if you haven't bought the item'. Luckily I had only spent £4 to 'test the water', as it was a new store for me and I only went there to look for H&B coupons in their pharmacy!
Silly thing is, I went there again 3 days later and a cashier said she could scan one (big deal, I will stick to my local Tesco, or the Asda that scans all).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My local has had a crack down. Managed to use quite a few tue am but when I went back tue pm to get wine the CA said he could only take one of each voucher. It was the same CA who had served me in the am0

The SA I used yesterday said she wouldn't accept any coupons. She was nice about it. I asked her if their policy varied from store to store, she called a Supervisor and the Supervisor said that they could accept ONE coupon if you hadn't bought the product. She then accepted one, and then had a discussion with another staff member to see if she was right and that staff member said"NO we can't take any now." I really do think that the individual store manager is responsible for making his store's coupon policy. So I now shop in the 2 stores that I know accept coupons. Not in the store that is 5 mins away from me!!
Tesco H.O really don't seem to know what their policy is.......0 -
I have had similar problems. Tried to use a load last week and was told they won't accept them unless you have bought the item. Some of them I had bought and she did a few others aswell but had to call the supervisor.
Tried again today in a different store and was told they will only accept two if they are for items not purchased. Also, other posters have mentioned using asda vouchers at tesco and neither will accept them. How annoying.0 -
of the three stores within 4 miles of me:
1 takes a few coupons if you pick the right SA
1 takes No coupons unless buying the product
the last one (smallest) : a male SA told me I could use as many unique ones as I liked as they had changed their policy again. Shame I dont have many then!0 -
IIRC it is a priviledge, not a God-given right, to use coupons for money off when you have not purchased the item. Be glad if they take 1 or 2 coupons and just accept it if they refuse.0
