Hello all...

Probably just a dream at the moment but wondering what the best deal I could get on a civic 1.8 is? Anyone know of any offers?

I can get 3k P/E for my current car or thereabouts... cheapest I found taking P/E into account is 12k...

Thanks
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:

    Hi Babbler,

You should get more help with this on the Motoring board, so I'll move your thread over there.

Been looking at these babies for a few weeks now. If you want new you need to go to Autobytel, they sell there for around 13K
Second hand with up to 12k on the clock, I have found a variety of colours and options on Autotrader. There seems to be a number of dealers with a batch all with about 11-12k on them, mixed variants. I usually look at Millennium in Nottingham cos they usually get a glut of new pre reg cars which is ideally the best way to buy cos you save a packet. I saved 3.5K on a Mazda 323 there some time ago. But currenty they have a glut of Astras.
It seems that because this model is still relatively new (the road reports are not particularly complimentary either) buying outside of a franchise and getting a good deal isn't easily available at the moment, Keep in touch

Hi there, the 2.2 turbo EX was something like £24,500 but we got it down to £21,800 which was not bad since he walked in and just said "right what is your best deal on the EX"

The fact that he knows what he is talking about and has a "no nonsense" approach to people and companies seems to work for him. The last company that got in his way lost £600 million in the wake of his anger!
  • Crikey...are you absolutely sure you've got that price of £24.5k right on a 5dr 2.2CDTI EX Civic? Manuf'r list price is under £18.5k on a 2.2 CTDi EX...has yours got c. £6,000 worth of extras?

A panoramic roof only adds c.£500 and leather would be around c£700, bringing it to £19,700 even if paying full manuf'r list price. Adding metallic would bring it to £20,075 at full price. Your sat nav' system is standard on the EX so wouldn't have added to the cost. What else went on it?

I'm pretty certain you've quoted that price incorrectly as it would equate to 11% off a Civic which is a margin even the dealers don't have themselves, and it is very hard to get any Civic to a total of £24.5k even if you added every single extra in the book.

Also, if you ordered in October and they said 20wks for some reason, it would be better to order in late Nov/early Dec' so you'd have it in March on the new reg' plates. As it stands you may have to pay for it in late Jan/Feb' just before the plate change so you'll suffer a book-price drop on it almost immediately. If you have crancked the car up on price due to a massive number of extras you'd be better taking a March plate and try to keep your residual value a bit higher on it.
