Can anyone shed any light on this ? I need to rent a car abroad ( South Africa ) for three weeks next February. Can anyone advise on how to get the best deal ? Is it best to take the extra CDW ( Collision Damage Waiver ) ? are any of the big firms better to deal with , better offers etc ? Does anyone know any voucher codes etc ? HELP ............ Please

I would try https://www.holidayautos.co.uk to get a first quote. Then google to see what else comes up.

Thanks for the pointers. I found another thread where someone reccomended https://www.Novacarhire.com and they do seem to be the cheapest for me. One burning question i do have is about the insurance. Nova offer Four rates , Bronze , Silver , Gold & Platinum . All offer the usual theft , accident , location fees & tourist taxes with Bronze and Silver offering lower vehicle damage cover and Gold & Platinum " FULL " damage cover . If it really is Full cover , why then when i go to book are they then offering " Excess Cover " ( Extra but well worth it ) billed independantly through https://www.insurance4carhire.com ?0

In South Africa I would suggest going for a large car hire company.
Some of the companies that I know of are https://www.hertz.com ; https://www.tempest.co.za ; https://www.imperial.co.za ; https://www.avis.com
Please chose a company that has lots of locations, as you never know when you will need to change your car. SA is a very big place if you are stuck on the side of the road.
I did a search via holidayautos last year and ended up going direct to Hertz. They were the cheapest.
Please be careful when booking cars on the net! When we booked with Hertz for our trip to SA last December we thought that the CDW was included. Unfortuantly when we got to SA they told us that becuase it was a British Hertz website, they had the wrong terms for the South African sector.
Ended up paying extra for it. "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0
