Be warned with Aria - if you have any problems with the item you buy (e.g. on a flat screen you may have a number of defective pixels) you have to return it at your cost. They then wait WEEKS before getting back in touch (and in the meantime you have no screen!) and if they disagree with your reason for returning your product they will then charge you the postage to return it - and they won't send it back until you give them a credit card number, so there's no arguing with them.
I am still waiting for an item to be replaced over a fortnight after I returned it , with no contact whatsoever, and when I emailed their customer services address which they gave me the email was bounced back saying the server does not exist.
You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.

If goods are faulty, you do not have to pay for any p&p under distance selling regs, See HERE second page

  • Yes, that's the theory... ;)

but is what you think is faulty the same as what Aria (or any retailer for that matter) thinks is faulty?
Thanks to all who post constructively.

If you order a brand new TFT & it is delivered with dead pixels then the only way to rectify is to return the goods as unwanted under the distant selling regulations. DO NOT STATE YOU HAVE DEAD PIXELS most companies require at least 5 dead pixels to be considered faulty.

Hope this helps. Aria are a good company i have had lots of dealings with them before.

Just remember the distant selling regs do not send anything back faulty within 7 days just return as unwanted.

But you might have to pay p&p, it depends on T&Cs, see my link above

This isn't that great of a deal really - A month or two ago 17" TFT's were going for around £130, so by June expect them to be around the £100 mark.

Even Argos have started knocking out 17" TFT's for the £160 - £170 mark!

I do know what you are saying, but it is down to the consumer not to let them get away with it. I had problems with Microdirect and on trading standards advise, I sent them a recorded delivery letter, stating that I would issue court proceedings against them if they did not refund my money including postage costs and the cost of sending the recorded delivery letter.

They then tried to just refund the item cost, so I have sent them another letter again stating that I would issue court proceeding against them for delivery costs and the other costs I incurred, they then paid up.

It's very easy to issue a small claim on-line now and it instantly adds £30 to their costs.
I'm 99% sure even if they state in their T's and C's that faulty goods must be returned at your costs, this will not hold water with the Sale of Goods Act. (not talking about distant selling regulations returns)

So stand up for your rights :D

Out of interest, in those distance selling reg. in says that if an item is faulty and you send it back for repair then it must be 'carried out within a reasonable time'. Does anyone know what would be classed as an unreasonable amount of time?
