I use mine for soups mostly. But then I bought one that has various attachments so you can make breadcrumbs, pastes etc and it's brilliant!
Oh and making sauces none lumpy as well could be usefulFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

I use mine constantly for soup. So much easier than pouring batches of hot liquid into a food processor and easy to wash too.
it's good for smoothies too.0 -
can be good for de-lumping sauces too
main use here is soup though...lol
:j0 -
Soup here too, I tend to buy the cheap ones from Tesco (just under a fiver) so it doesn't matter if it goes a funny shape if the soup is too hot LOL0

they're great for making your own houmous, much cheaper than bought stuff.
it seems tough going at first, as chickpeas are quite solid, but make sure you add some olive oil or other liquid to loosen it up and it has always worked for me.
Let me know if you need a recipe.0 -
i also use mine to make curry pastes, there is a great madhur jaffrey recipe where you process onions, garlic, ginger and spices to a mush and then fry till brown, makes your curry taste really savory.
some chicken either breasts or whatever
4 md Onions -- peeled
1 ½ Inch Cube Of Ginger --
Peeled & chopped
6 Cloves Garlic -- peeled
7 tb Vegetable Oil
1 tb Ground Coriander
1 tb Ground Cumin
½ ts Ground Turmeric
½ ts Cayenne Pepper add more if you want it to be spicier
4 tb Plain Yogurt
2 ½ c Water
small tin tomatoes, or a coulple of fresh ones
2 ts Salt
½ ts Garam Masala -- (essential)
1 tb Fresh Coriander -- to garnish (optional)
This is one of the nicest currys I've ever eaten and doesnt require very elaborate ingredients, once you've got the spices in (from a indian grocer of course!)

I use mine to make caster sugar as its cheaper to buy ordinary sugar and give it a blast with the hand blender for the ammount of caster sugar I use.0

Oh and I have an older version of this:

But I've had it since we got married 6 years ago and still use all the bits! In the summer the children like slushies made with it, great for breadcrumbs, for whisking, making pastes (and baby food), blitzing tomatoes for bolognaise sauces, making burger stuff for shaping etc!
If this one broke even though it seems expensive I'd be right out there to get another because it's soooooooooooooooooooooooooo useful! And you can wash all the bits seperately
Sorry got all ott there but I love mineFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

i love mine, use it for soups mostly, but also fruit smoothies and tomato sauces (i hate tomatoes so i have to blitz tinned tomatoes before i can eat them in a sauce!)
like tescodisco above i also use it for curry sauces and sometimes pureeing potatoes for ultimate comfort food
i think my hand blender is my favourite kitchen appliance!0 -
I used to have one when the kids were bubs. I used it to make all their baby food. Whenever we had a meal ,I'd put a little bit in a bowl and just blend it down.0
