MESH Computers- Terrible customer service

Hey,

First off I just wanted to warn people who are thinking about buying a MESH computer. I bought an extremely expensive computer off them a year ago and have had nothing but problems with them.

At the momet I have a really frustrating problem. One of their engineers (well a guy from a place called Repairline, who mesh use), came to fix a minor problem with my computer- CPU fan needed replacing. I could still use my computer but it was annoying. The engineer was the most inept waste of space ever, I thought i was on a hidden camera show or anything. He was digging around inside my computer as if it was a bag of sweets and
he ended up making it worse, so now I can't even turn my computer on because the monitor doesn't receive a signal and it makes scary beeping sounds. This has left me totally screwed without my computer.

I rang up the technical support line the next day, to be greeted by the rudest guy I've ever had the misfortune to meet, who didn't apologise but told me that they'd have to take the computer away for repair, which can take up to 6 weeks (!), and that they'd be in contact soon about picking it up. That was 4 days ago and I have yet to hear anything. I just feel totally lost without my computer, and abandoned and frustrated by MESH, particularly as I spent money on a 3 year guarantee so I would have peace of mind with this sort of thing.

I've just fired off an email to their customer support people to see if that gets anywhere. Do I have any grounds to threaten them with any sort of action? I'm guessing probably not but it is incredibly frustrating!

Anyway sorry for the rant, I just thought I'd share my experience with MESH with you all.

  • MESH have the worst customer support I've ever had the misfortune to deal with and their on-site extended warranty is worth less than the toilet paper I wipe my !!!! with, and considerably less effective at doing even that, I might add.

I spent the best part of a grand on a top-of-the-range system about 3 years ago, including an upgrade to a 3-year on-site warranty.

It was the worst £1,000 I've ever spent. Although it seemed like a good deal at the time, in retrospect I would strongly advise people NEVER, EVER to buy from MESH.

At the first sign of trouble (a simple boot-sector failure on my hard drive, which at the time I was unable to fix) they hummed and hawed about honouring the guarantee, and said that because I live in Scotland, I would have to post it back to them.

I asked them what the effing point of an on-site warranty was if I had to post the PC away each time I developed a problem. I explained that the machine probably just needed a fresh boot sector installed or - at worst - a replacement hard drive.

They sent someone out a week later, with no hard drive and even less knowledge than me when it came to boot sector repairs (which as I've since found out, are actually a piece of p*ss).

He ripped the machine to bits and said he'd come back in two weeks with a new hard drive.

I got on the phone to their CS department and was kept waiting for over 30 mins before I spoke to the rudest ar*ehole ever - presumably he's still working there, if you've also now dealt with him. He told me that because I lived in the back of beyond (Aberdeen!!!) it would be unfair to expect the T&Cs in my warranty to be upheld to the letter! I let him know in no uncertain terms that this was atrocious and I would be taking further action once the PC was repaired.

So the workman appears 2 weeks later with a new hard drive, but no screws. I told him to use the old ones, but he refused to. He took another look at the PC and said he thought the damage was maybe worse than first expected and that I would have to send it back to MESH for repairs.

In an effort to get my PC back asap, I acquiesced and he told me how to go about sending it back.

I duly did, and they delivered it back to me about 3 weeks later. When I say they delivered it back to me, I should add that it was delivered to my previous address and it was only thanks to the new owners of my old place that I got the PC back at all.

Absolute, utter, incompetent muppets, from their CS to their workmen.

Their on-site warranty is a sham and they are the least responsible PC salesmen I have ever come across.

I wouldn't touch them with somebody else's barge-pole, not even if you paid me.

An explanatory letter was sent to their Head of CS when I did finally get my PC back. Needless to say, I didn't ever receive a responde, despite two chase-up letters.

In summary - STAY AWAY FROM MESH AT ALL COSTS!

    To the OP.

You should perhaps contact your local trading standards dept, as you still have rights regarding this item.
