Hi
Had loads of trouble with PGen in last house - didn't set up billing correctly and so then I had to pay them £180 per month until I paid off the debt and the same thing is about to happen again in my new house.
When we moved here it was PGen for the electric and a commercial type subsiduary of theirs for the Gas - well that confused them for a start.
So we moved in on 24/9/04 and still to date haven't had a bill.
When I rang them last time they said my account was stuck in registration and that they would sort it out and send me a bill - they haven't.
When I rang today he said he couldn't see what was arong with my account but he would put it on monitoring (whatever that means), I had used approx £400 electricity so far and that he couldn't give me a gas calculation as the meter reading that was taken didn't agree with the last meter reading.
I told him there was no way he was going to get the money out of me in one lump sum but isn't this going to stop me from changing suppliers (although I have a feeling that if I did that a bill would miraculously appear).
I need to change not only from a price point of view but also because their customer service is appalling.
All advice appreciated.
Macca

The problem you are facing here is that both your supplies are with powergen and you are trying to join powergen. From a distribution point of view, transco will tell you that you are being supplied by powergen, but you are in the process of changing to... powergen. The reason why this will take so long is because you cannot change from the same supplier to the same supplier. ie powergen will contact transco for the gas only to be told that they supply it... meaning that the transfer will have to take place internally.

Did you find out who was supplying the property before switching to powergen?
    Beware the green?

I had a very similar problem with Powergen.

I found that they soon pulled their fingers out once Energywatch got involved. And gave me four months free electric whilst their sage was ongoing.

    Then I uswitch 'ed elsewhere.

errrm I didn't change to Powergen I just took on what the old occupier had i.e. Powergen - sorry to confuse you. Perhaps they got confused as I suppose they had to take me off the commercial gas tariff or whatever it was!
