Can anyone please tell me the best/easiest way to copy my old LP's to my PC, so I can make CD's, etc?
Thanks in advance...:)

Hi
I use this software found here https://www.Polderbits.com, it's excellent, I think you can have it on a trial basis first, I thought it was so good I bought it and I think it was less than a tenner. The latest version allows you to edit/filter cracks & pops, which again works really well. I'm sure there are many others out there, but this one does exactly what it says on the tin!0 -
I use Magix Audio Cleaning Lab. I have the 2004 version and really like it.
If I remember right, the Delux Version comes with cables and the capability to burn unlimited mp3s while the cheaper version only has the software and the ability to burn a limited number of mps (though you can burn as many wav files as you want)0 -
It's also worth mentioning that you would need an output / input jack socket lead i.e. from your headphone socket on your record player / hi-fi, which would connect to your soundcard aux / mic.0

Usually a Record Deck does not have a line level output (tape decks, CD's etc do). the output has to go through a pre-amp, which is normally handled within (an integrated amplifier).
You can buy separate pre-amp but unsure of the prices.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I've always been curious about the exact legality of what I'm about to post. Please delete this mods if I'm stepping over any lines.
If you were to download the songs that you already own on vinyl from one of the many P2P sites out there, and then burn them to CD, would you have broken any laws?0 -
The best combination I have found is Audacity from https://www.sourceforge.net which is free and is an excellent recorder. Here you can record and then export to WAV format. Then try Groove Mechanic at https://www.coyotes.bc.ca for a free 15 day trial to get rid of clicks and rumble (even hiss for tape). You will not be disappointed - it costs about £23 for a full licence. It works in a different way to many of the editors because it doesn't actually use filters - see for yourself.0

I used the trial version of polderbits, without the bells and whistles, Excellent.
Did this about 9 months ago and I'm glad I didn't remove the cracks/pops/hisses, every time I play the mp3's now the ambience of the original is still there and brings back memories of events and parties.Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.0 -
I know in the Control Panel for the Soundblaster Audigy 2 there are options for removing clicks pop's etc. I don't know if this applies to the rest of the Audigy / Live range.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

This was recommended on TV last week on The Gadget Show.
There is a free version that will do what you want.

I use a Sony Hi-MD minidisc player which can digitally record analogue signals direct fro the hifi. these can be uploaded via usb to your computer and then converted from the Sony OMA/OMG format to WAV files for recording onto CD. The Mini Disc will record at several different compression ratios including PCM (uncompressed) which is CD quality.
The cheapest HI-MD player is arround the £100 mark
