FLYlady- has any followed it thru from very beginning?

Hi all

Very new to MSE & very interested in OS methods

Just joined FLYlady once I figured out it was a website

Had a quick read through 'baby steps' and could see how it might work but wondered if any started with it from beginning and followed it thru day by day?

we have a group on here, and whomever gets the emails (michelle and I think Penny) tells us what the email says, nad then we choose whether to bother with it or not. the other day there was a pointless missive of write shopiing list for what you need in the bathroom which I didnt bother with as I knew we needed nothing IYSWIM

but generally, yes, we do do them :) join in with us :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I found Flylady a few years ago, I learned a few thngs like if you shine your sink it feels good and it spreads to the rest of the kitchen, I like my kitchen to look tidy because it is the main route into the house so this works for me.

I also learned that if I deal with my washing as it comes out of the dryer it doesn't need ironing, result as I hate ironing!

Another one of the Flylady things is you can't organise clutter, I have systematically decluttered my house over the last few years, we have storage solutions that work for us (I used to store stuff I use everyday behind stuff I use twice a year for example, now the rarely used stuff is in a high shelf and the daily use stuff within reach) I deal with my "hotspots" every day, things like mail piling up and old papers, now they get sorted daily and I open my post by the shredder and the recycle bin.

If you can find a home for everything that you want to keep and you pick up after yourself, eg put things away, wipe the cooker when you wash up etc, you really don't need to do a big spring clean every week.

Believe me I was so disorganised I never thought I could be tidy and have sytems but now I have it makes life so much easier.

So nearlyrich you did 'shine your sink' but did you follow thru with the rest of it too?

Not the whole thing it's a bit too American for me, also you would need to be at home all day to react to the emails, empty the washer etc:mad: it would drive me nuts so I don't get the mails;)

  • Me love fly lady but do fall off the wagon often as very easily distracted and work from home and have the memory of a goldfish!
would love to find out where this group is Flylady plus OS just too exciting - OMg i'm getting old!
  • I found out about Flylady through MSE a couple of years ago and it has changed my life. Gradually the house has turned into a welcoming place as opposed to a dumping ground and I have even started to have people round, and not feel so bad when friends turn up uninvited (they use to have to give me at least 5 days' notice!). The american attitude ("God bless you all" and "I love you, you love me, we're as happy as can be") makes me cringe and I find using the delete button rather liberating. But overall the system works, and I would wholeheartedly recommend following it blindly for a few weeks and see the difference. I must admit I stopped receiving the emails last month as I needed that email address for a new venture, (you need one address just for her mails as they are so many your normal correspondence would be drowned) but I will have to open yet another email account as my house is now looking slightly worse for wear. I thought I could do it on my own but obviously I still need Flylady's reminders. It is back to the babysteps then!
