Everybody needs goals. Look at Charlton, for example.

Options
Sunday "goals for the week" time. As usual, tell us your moneysaving aims for the next seven days. If you did this last week, let us know how you fared.

Last week, I am aimed to cut spending. This was disastrous. I spent far too much. Coffees, lunches, booze, gnomes. I spent money on 75% of these. This has to stop.

On the plus side, I've thrown some more cash at my overdraft. I'm now halfway towards my "debt free by Christmas Day" challenge. See signature.

Given the circumstances, it's time for some drastic (but blatantly obvious, kick-yourself, why-didn't-you-bother-doing-this-before) action.

This week:

Eat breakfast at home to avoid buying stuff on way to work
NO shop lunches
NO takeaway coffees
Take lunch and coffee stuff to work every day
Eat and drink properly to fight against the fact I'm becoming ill
Travel by bus instead of train all week
NO drinking at home - only sociable visits to pub with friends (limit 21 units)
Book all the holiday I'm entitled to. The allowance is being taken away soon, and the company looks about to close, so I'm grabbing all I can.
Enjoy my four-day weekend at the end of this week (as weekends invariably occur at the end of the week).

David, it's over to you.

    Morning All

    These are mine:

    1. Get money back off dad from paying for mums present
    2. Sort out all match betting accounts - just found out that I've got another £70 due to hit my bank that I had forgotten about with cash zipping all over the place so do a check and make sure that there are no more surprise balances anywhere
    3. When all thats sorted figure out how much money I've got left for this month and try and set a reasonable budget. I've been a bit slack lately with little treats etc and so I'm not saving/paying off as much as I should be.
    4. Figure out Xmas present situation and who else I need to get presents for and then come up with some ideas.
    5. Start saving up for MOT/Service that is due at the end of the year.

OK, here are mine from last week:

-change my leftover euros- probably about 30 in notes- did this, had 40 euros
-count my change tin and bank it- not managed this one yet
-claim back £39 that a friend owes me- I'm seeing her on Sunday and she has remembered it- done!
-spend no more than £15 on shopping this week- erm... well I spent £65 in Tesco on Saturday but I haven't spent anything on topping up so it looks like I've finally got the hang of this menu planning lark. Plus I have a store cupboard full of tinned tomatoes, dried beans and other useful stuff

    This week I will:

-List a further 10 items on eBay and Amazon- I still have time to make my £200 target for October
-Count my change whisky tin contents and bank it
-Keep top-up shopping to £10 or less
-Find another 0% deal to BT my Mint card as 0% has run out on that one
-Put my expenses claim in (£500ish)

    Good luck everyone! x
