Has anyone refilled a DELL 810 Printer ink cartridge?

My trial ink is coming to an end and I grabbed some refill inks for my Dell 810 (its the printer copier and scanner one).

The problem is I have no idea where to start when trying to refill - the instructions included are totally naff!

Has anyone done it? I basically want to refill it with black ink as I dont need a colour printer so any advice would be welcomed!

thanks
Bismillah

    Yes,successfully re-filled my Dell 810 this morning.
To save you a lot of hassle, there`s no need to snap the top off the cartridge.
(I had to,so I could find out where each colour went)

Remove the cartridge from the printer and peel back the sticky label.
You should then see three holes, turn the cartridge until the single hole that is nearest to the end of the cartridge is on the left hand side.
Into this hole inject the red ink.
The hole that is at the top inject blue and the hole that is at the bottom inject yellow.
Inside the cartridge,it is split into three sections as described, whether you can inject black into all three holes and for it to work, who knows?
If you do try all black please post how you got on.

I hope you can follow the above,if not post back.

Cheers mate - great advice - really useful.

I read your bit about taking a chance and trying all 3 holes with the black which is fine. But can you tell me where the black ink would go normally?

The inside of the cartridge has three chambers for each of the colours.
    There is no black ink.
Because there is only one cartridge the colours mix to form "black".
You may have noticed that it`s not jet black when it prints, more of a very dark grey.

As requested, Im reporting back my findings!

Just filled it up with black ink only using the method described as the ink had hit rock bottom.

Seems to be printing fine but I keep getting the message to say ink is low - not sure why.

I guess I'll find out if it was trully successful once Ive done several prints. The few I have done look ok but they still have a bit of colour in them from the old inks.

With this particular printer even after you`ve re-filled it will show as "low".
There`s nothing you can do about it,(it`s a software quirk).

On my previous Dell720 printer every time you removed the cartridge and put it back
it would ask whether it was a new or old cartridge
if you clicked new then it would show as full.
On the 810 it doesn`t ask so it remains as "low".

cheers for the info, best thing is I know that I got one over dell by only paying £10 for the printer and a few quid to refill.

Have to say, even the trial ink lasted a while!

  • I've been trying refil my colour cartridge, and as i can see a few people have also had difficulties. does anyone know how to go about doing it. the instructions that come with the refil kit aren't two helpful.

also. note to all who by refil kits. i think they are either 1.99 or 2.99 at lidl.
