Cleaning Converse trainers.

I have some red gingham converse and they are my favourite shoes. They have little strawberries and things on them too! Today I got them drenched in muddy puddles and they are filthy inside and out.
Anyone stuck converse in the washing machine okay? Any other ideas for getting them clean? Particularly inside.
Thanks.

I stick mine (they don't have little strawberries on them. LOL) in the washing machine. Warm wash, gentle agitation. HTHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Thanks, MATH.
As they're red and white, do you think the colour might run?
I don't want to mess it up! I have hardly any footwear since I went up a shoe size when I was pregnant with my now toddler!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
They sound lovely! If they were mine I'd put them on a coolish wash and not too fast a spin. I don't think they'll run.0

You could use "Colourseal" to be on the safe side - it'd be such a shame if the colour ran.0

My daughter asked last night for these for Christmas ,first time I had heard of them ,they are quite expensive though on ebay so If anyone knows where to get them a bit cheaper I'd be grateful ,they are lovely0

if they are 'caked in mud, i would wait til the mud sets, and then scrape the worst of it off?
if you are desperatly worried about the colour running, perhaps you could try giving them a scrub with a brush and warm soapy water, to see if that will shift the stains?
then stuff them with newspaper, and put them under a radiator to dry.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

brand of trainers that went out of fashion in the uk, but have recently made a very big comebackknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I think you will be okay with them in the WM - I do DD's in there but make sure they are on a very cool cycle. Be prepared for them not to come out sparkling clean - the dirt kind of gets in the grain on them.
For those who are looking for cheap Converse, the best place to get them is on the net from the States. I got some Chuck Taylor pink flowery ones for DD1 off ebay for £15 ish which is half what you would pay over here at least. You can also buy direct off of the Converse site for cheaper than you can get them retail here because of the weak dollar. Best thing is to get someone who is going over to the States to get some for you as you can get them really cheaply in the malls over there.Jane
