Custom House LDR Query

In a few weeks time i need to goto an event at the Excel centre london. When the event finishes there will be a big rush as everyone (a few 000 people) make there way home. Last time i even left 30mins early and there were hugh queues by the LDR ticket machines which took ages to get thro as they have only 2 machines (on the Novotel side of Excel centre). I cant remember but i was sure they had some ticket machines near the life on to the platform. Can anyone confirm this for me as it will save me loads of time as i need to get back to Kings Cross for my train, plus saves inconvenience of lugging my bag all the way to the lift at the end of the ramp and going back in case of no machine.

Either:

(1) Buy a One Day Travelcard (ODTC) when you buy your rail ticket
(2) Buy a ODTC at Kings Cross when you arrive
(3) Get an Oyster card
(4) Buy your ticket back to Kings Cross at Custom House before you go to Excel centre

Remember that there are also Silverlink trains that get from Custom House to Highbury and Islington in about 25 minutes. From there it's one stop on the Victoria Line to either Kings Cross or Finsbury Park (where you can pick up a local train).

thanks for replies.

wont get time to buy ticket before my seminar as i am staying at local hotel for few days.
I have already bought my rail ticket from GNER website but did not buy Tube pass.

Is there other ticket machines at the station or nearer the platform/lift access?? ?
or when i arrive at Kings Cross a few days before hand i can i buy an ticket to use a few days later?

rdwarr- I prefer to use the DLR-Tube root but will look into your alternative suggestion.

If you come into London a fair amount I would thouroughly recommend getting an oystercard which you charge up with prepay (rather than having to get a season ticket). This can all be done in advance, on line and saves you having to queue up at ticket machines when you get here. You can simply touch your card on the reader and away you go.

Also, if you use oyster lots of times in one day, the total cost of travel is capped at a daily travelcard amount. And, to boot, journeys with oyster prepay are cheaper than buying paper tickets.

i dont travel to london a lot - maybe once per year if that.

Fair enough. You can buy your ticket in advance at an underground station if that helps.

I second the Silverlink option after going to Excel many, many times. There are trains every 1/2 an hour (check https://www.thetrainline.com), but you always get a seat, avoid central london, and it is much quicker than the DLR if you are heading to Kings X, and most importantly, avoid those crowds as no-one else seems to bother with them....
