Not many people will have £14k in their pocket, to buy a car from the small ads.
More likely they'll have something of substantial value to trade in & want finance on the balance, so a dealer wins!!
Are you friendly with your local Toyota dealer? If they've looked after the car, or know it, they might consider putting on the forecourt & selling it for you.
You'd be without it, so only any good if you've other transport.At least you'd have the best chance of letting people see it in the proper enviroment.
Your other option, for fast sale is auction, but you'd loose a lump of £$£$ but be paid fast & no comebacks!
Why are you selling - just for £$£$£ reasons, or is there another car coming along?
If it's 'cos of a new car, get the dealer to have your car for a day, to let him get PROPER offers, from traders.Otherwise he'll just quote you bottom price & auction/trade it out at whatever he gets.
It's a Toyota Rav4 VX 2.0 Petrol from 2002. We used What Car and Parkers to get valuations, so we know we're pricing it OK at around £14,000.
We think that's fair.

Unfortunately its currently a buyers market and is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. not wishing to be the bearer of bad news but I think that the reason you havent had much luck is because its overpriced @ £14k! ....Having just had a quick browse of AutoTrader there are loads of '02' plate VX's with an average of 30k-40k miles going for between £10-£11k.
Definately the best place for advertising is Autotrader but theres always Ebay!
ive no idea which version of what car or parkers you have looked at, but that vehicle ranges in price from £10k trade - £12k retail
you are way overpriced, and that is why it isnt selling
depending on how quick you need to sell, your local toyota dealership might take it off your hands, but that would be at the low £10k mark
People are alot more wary about buying expensive cars privately. if i was paying out that amount, i would rather pay the bit extra and buy direct from a dealership
I completly agree with Vansboy and in many aspects Flea as well.
As a dealer i think you are overpricing the car for a private sale. When you sell your car privatly you have many factors against you, the only factor in your favour is the price. Your price will not entice people, its high full stop.
If you want to get top end for your car then as Vansboy said go to a local dealer and ask him if he will show the car. He will take a % of the sale if he makes one for you but it takes the leg work out of it for you and you should be able to get somewhere near what you are asking.
If you dont want to do this then im afraid the only thing you can do is lower the price. You can advertise wherever you want for as long as you want and that chances are it wont budge, something has to give. However you could be lucky and someone may just bite your hand off but i doubt it unfortuantly. Good luck though
