Have finally got round to attempting to fix my dead pc. When i switch on it does nothing, not even POST, I can hear everything running but nothing on screen.
Have disconnected everything except cpu and hdd and still no joy.
Have tested memory, graphics card etc and swopped hdd with another and still nothing, so have come to conclusion that it must be mobo or cpu.
Question is - where can I buy an athlon xp 1700+ and/or mobo MS-6367 (or equivalents to fit case and memory) online? Don't really want to scrap pc as the rest of the components have been recently upgraded.
Despite trawling for hours I can only find them on ebay and I would prefer new. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than a hammer!)?

ebuyer.co.uk has both items. you wont get a XP 1700+ as they are soooo old, but something a bit more upto date like 2600+ or 3000+.

I'm not clued up on compatibility issues, so would be grateful if someone would advise me which mobo and processor I could buy that would fit my case and allow me to reuse the ddr ram etc I already have?
I've looked at ebuyer but couldn't work out what would fit.:o0 -
I used to have a VIA KT600 motherboard with my XP2800 and it was quite stable and had loads of Bios options.
However if your are buying a new motherboard and processor skip the AMD XP series and get an Athlon 64 as these are far better value for money.
I still use my old XP2800 in a Shuttle XPC but even the lower Athlon 64 processors can potentially beat it for processing grunt!
A good recommendation is either an Athlon 63 2800+ OR 3000+ or Sempron 3400+. A Sempron is a slightly slower Athlon 64. I would go with a socket 754 motherboard and processor as it no point spending any more for socket 939 as they are have been both replaced by the socket AM2 recently! However there are no AMD dual core processors which fit the socket 754 motherboards as far as I know.
Having a quick look on Ebay at buy it now auctions you can get an Asus K8V-X motherboard for 28 quid brand new and a brand new Sempron 3400+ for 64 quid including the cooler. This would give a powerful processing boost to you system for around 92 quid!
I assume you already have an AGP graphics card?? The aforementioned socket 754 motherboard does not have integrated graphics.0
